Sr Developer - Java API - Chennai

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Senior Java API Developer with strong expertise in designing and developing scalable, high-performance backend services and APIs. The ideal candidate will have deep experience in Java-based backend development, microservices architecture, and building secure and reliable RESTful APIs for enterprise applications.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and RESTful APIs using Java
• Build high-performance, secure, and reusable microservices
• Collaborate with frontend developers, product managers, and architects to define API requirements
• Ensure API performance, scalability, reliability, and security
• Develop and maintain API documentation (Swagger/OpenAPI)
• Implement authentication and authorization mechanisms (OAuth2, JWT, etc.)
• Optimize application performance and troubleshoot production issues
• Participate in system design discussions and architecture decisions
• Write clean, maintainable, and testable code following best practices
• Perform code reviews and mentor junior developers
• Work in Agile/Scrum environments and contribute to sprint deliverables
• Integrate applications with databases, messaging systems, and third-party services

Required Skills & Experience

• 7+ years of experience in backend development using Java
• Strong expertise in building RESTful APIs and microservices architecture
• Proficiency in frameworks like Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Cloud
• Experience with API design principles and best practices
• Strong knowledge of Java, multithreading, and performance optimization
• Experience with databases (SQL and/or NoSQL such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB)
• Familiarity with API security standards (OAuth2, JWT, SSO)
• Experience with version control systems like Git
• Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
• Experience working in Agile development environments

Preferred Skills

• Experience with distributed systems and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)
• Knowledge of messaging systems (Kafka, RabbitMQ)
• Experience with containerization tools (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Exposure to API gateways (Kong, Apigee, Spring Cloud Gateway)
• Knowledge of monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack)
