About The Role

We are seeking an experienced Consultant / Specialist Ophthalmologist to join a leading healthcare facility in the UAE. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive ophthalmic assessment, diagnosis, medical and surgical treatment, and follow-up care for patients with a wide range of eye conditions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive ophthalmic examinations and diagnose eye conditions.
  • Manage common and complex ophthalmic diseases affecting the anterior and posterior segments.
  • Perform ophthalmic procedures and surgeries according to qualifications and clinical privileges.
  • Diagnose and manage conditions such as cataracts, glaucoma, diabetic eye disease, retinal disorders, corneal conditions, and ocular infections.
  • Perform cataract surgery and other relevant ophthalmic procedures where appropriately trained.
  • Evaluate and manage emergency eye conditions and ocular trauma.
  • Interpret relevant diagnostic investigations, including OCT, visual fields, fundus imaging, and other ophthalmic tests.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans and provide appropriate follow-up care.
  • Collaborate with optometrists, ophthalmic surgeons, neurologists, endocrinologists, and other specialists.
  • Maintain accurate clinical records and documentation.
  • Participate in clinical governance, quality improvement, teaching, and continuing professional development.

Requirements

  • MBBS/MD or equivalent medical degree from a recognized institution.
  • Recognized postgraduate qualification in Ophthalmology .
  • Relevant post-specialty clinical experience.
  • Strong experience in comprehensive ophthalmology and relevant surgical procedures.
  • Subspecialty expertise in areas such as vitreoretinal surgery, glaucoma, cornea, pediatric ophthalmology, oculoplasty, or refractive surgery is an advantage.
  • Valid professional registration/license in the country of practice.
  • Excellent clinical, diagnostic, and surgical skills.
  • Strong communication and patient-management abilities.
  • Consultant candidates: Appropriate senior-level qualifications and substantial post-specialty experience.
  • Candidates with UK CCT/UK specialist qualifications, American Board, Australian Board, or South African Board are highly encouraged to apply.
