Consultant / Specialist - Stroke Medicine

About The Role
We are seeking an experienced Consultant / Specialist in Stroke Medicine to join a leading healthcare facility in the UAE. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive care for patients with acute and complex cerebrovascular conditions, from emergency assessment through secondary prevention and rehabilitation.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess, diagnose, and manage patients with acute ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke.
- Provide rapid evaluation and management of acute stroke presentations, including thrombolysis and thrombectomy pathways where applicable.
- Manage transient ischemic attacks (TIA) and patients at high risk of cerebrovascular events.
- Develop individualized treatment and secondary stroke prevention plans.
- Interpret and coordinate relevant investigations, including CT/MRI brain, vascular imaging, and other diagnostic studies.
- Manage post-stroke complications and coordinate rehabilitation and follow-up care.
- Work closely with neurologists, neuroradiologists, neurosurgeons, emergency physicians, intensivists, and rehabilitation teams.
- Participate in multidisciplinary stroke meetings and develop evidence-based stroke pathways.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and patient records.
- Participate in clinical governance, quality improvement, teaching, research, and continuing professional development.
Requirements
- MBBS/MD or equivalent medical degree from a recognized institution.
- Recognized postgraduate qualification in Neurology, Stroke Medicine, Internal Medicine, or a relevant specialty .
- Relevant post-specialty experience in Stroke Medicine / Cerebrovascular Medicine .
- Strong experience in acute stroke management and secondary prevention.
- Experience with thrombolysis and acute stroke pathways is highly desirable.
- Valid professional registration/license in the country of practice.
- Excellent clinical decision-making and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary stroke team.
- Consultant candidates: Appropriate senior-level qualifications and substantial post-specialty experience.
- Candidates with UK CCT/UK specialist qualifications, American Board, Australian Board, or South African Board are highly encouraged to apply.
