Your place in our story

In this role, you will support the financial analysis of the development process from land acquisition to the end of warranty, and everything in between, including assisting with project related development activities.

Here’s how you’ll contribute

  • Prepare advanced financial analysis and analytical support to aid management in evaluating various real estate decisions.
  • Work with all applicable functional groups to ensure all project proforma information, forecasts, and cash flow projections are prepared accurately and are accompanied by variance reports detailing changes to the project.
  • Review monthly budget updates and identify risks and opportunities for functional groups.
  • Support functional teams in the creation and monitoring of project budgets and cash flows.
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly and quarterly management reporting and reviews to ensure accuracy in budgets and actuals.
  • Read various joint venture legal agreements and assist in the creation of the appropriate cost and reporting structures within NewStar.
  • Prepare calculations in accordance with the terms and conditions of various legal agreements and prepare any required reporting.
  • Assist with the preparation of partner reports.
  • Support the land development and construction teams to implement cost/budget control processes and initiatives.
  • Perform other duties within the scope, spirit, and purpose of the job as requested by management.

  • Post-secondary education (bachelor’s degree) with a concentration in planning, real estate, and/or finance.
  • 5+ years of experience in a similar role.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to deliver on commitments and manage multiple deliverables.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
  • Knowledge of SQL and/or InformXL is an asset.
  • Knowledge of NewStar is an asset.
  • Knowledge of the residential real estate/development industry is considered an asset.

Hiring pay range rate: $100K–$115K
