About The Role

  • Title:  Quality Technician
  • Reports to :  VP of Quality and Safety
  • Job Purpose :  Assures consistent quality for our customers through the validation of manufacturing processes and standards as well as continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

MANUFACTURING SUPPORT

  • Participate in project status meetings and provide quality-related updates
  • Participate in up-front product, tooling and process development- focusing on quality requirements
  • Update, and maintain quality documents
  • Maintain quality metric/performance data

DIMENSIONAL CONTROL AND MEASUREMENT SYSTEMS

  • Participate in quality control fixture/gage design, qualification and maintenance
  • Maintain measurement equipment, certifications, and calibrations
  • Support ISO compliance and maintenance of the Quality Management System (QMS)

PART AND COMPONENT INSPECTIONS

  • Perform incoming and in-process inspections of internal and external parts and/or components
  • Participate in the processing of non-conforming material/product
  • Maintain Quality related part and process documentation
  • As required, validate initial production samples and prepare data for customer submission
  • Monitor/assess part/process capability.

CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT INITIATIVES

  • React to customer complaints and ensure that corrective actions are effective and properly executed
  • Participate in initiatives such as Root Cause & Corrective Action (RCCA), SD, A3 activities to sustain continuous improvement throughout the organization

FLOOR AUDITS AND WASTE WALKS

  • Audit process documentation and identify performance gaps
  • Document audit activities ensuring compliance with QMS requirements
  • Audit manufacturing processes and standards for:
  • Safety
  • Process control
  • Waste
  • Part quality
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
  • Thorough knowledge of blueprint reading and ability to use measuring tools and test equipment
  • Understanding and interpretation of Quality tools including but not limited to SPC, Gage R & R, and metrology tools
  • Knowledge of lean problem-solving tools and techniques such as A3, 8D, and Root Cause & Corrective Action (RCCA)
  • Thorough knowledge of what makes up a working quality management system.  The ability to clearly generate standard operating procedures and work instructions as well as reports
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite with above average Excel experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
