## Description
### Pediatric Ophthalmologist
A growing **Pediatric Ophthalmology program** in **Eastern North Carolina** is seeking a **mission-driven, visionary Pediatric Ophthalmologist** to join and help advance a developing academic division. As one of the only pediatric ophthalmologists serving a region of approximately **1.5 million people**, this role offers a unique opportunity to make a meaningful community impact while contributing to program growth and academic development.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate a passion for **pediatric ophthalmic care**, strong **leadership and program-building skills**, and a commitment to **academic medicine**, including education and research. This position offers the chance to practice in an innovative, collaborative environment while addressing a significant regional need for pediatric ophthalmology services.
The medical center serves as a **tertiary referral center**, managing a high volume of complex ophthalmic conditions. The ophthalmology service continues to expand across subspecialties and has received **ACGME approval to launch a new Ophthalmology residency**, with the inaugural class beginning in **summer 2026**. The program benefits from a strong hospital-based referral network and community referrals in a region with limited subspecialty coverage.

## Requirements
### Education & Training
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree
- Completion of an accredited Ophthalmology Residency program
- Completion of an accredited Pediatric Ophthalmology Fellowship
### Certification & Licensure
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Ophthalmology
- Fellowship-trained in Pediatric Ophthalmology
- Eligible for or currently holding an unrestricted North Carolina medical license
- Eligible for hospital privileges
