Director, Network Intelligence

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Director, Network Intelligence based in the United States.

This is a senior leadership opportunity to build and own the intelligence layer behind a large-scale fiber <network.You> will transform network telemetry into predictive diagnostics, proactive operations, and closed-loop automation.The role spans access, Wi-Fi, metro Ethernet, IP core, and fixed wireless environments, with responsibility for millions of managed <devices.You> will also lead a technology and architecture lab focused on vendor evaluation, device certification, and proof-of-concept validation.The position combines deep technical architecture with people leadership, strategic vendor management, and cross-functional influence.Success will be measured through improved customer experience, operational efficiency, reduced support costs, and faster technology deployment.This is an ideal role for an experienced telecom technology leader who thrives at the intersection of networking, AI/ML, automation, and innovation.

Accountabilities

Own the end-to-end network telemetry and intelligence architecture across OLT/ONT, residential gateways, Wi-Fi, metro Ethernet, IP core, and FWA environments, integrating network elements with cloud analytics platforms.

Define scalable data models and telemetry standards using technologies such as gNMI/gRPC, NETCONF/YANG, OMCI, OpenConfig, and Broadband Forum standards.

Architect and evolve AI/ML-powered diagnostic capabilities covering anomaly detection, predictive failure identification, proactive alerting, and network performance analytics.

Build and oversee telemetry-driven remote diagnostics and troubleshooting capabilities designed to reduce unnecessary field dispatches and improve first-call resolution.

Develop microservices-based orchestration layers that connect network telemetry, backend systems, device management platforms, and automation workflows.

Partner with network operations and autonomous operations teams to turn intelligence and model outputs into closed-loop operational processes.

Lead a technology and architecture laboratory responsible for vendor evaluations, proof-of-concept testing, device certification, QA standards, and technology validation across the network stack.

Establish vendor equipment programs, certification methodologies, acceptance criteria, documentation standards, and automated testing practices to accelerate deployment cycles.

Oversee certification activities for OLTs, ONTs, CPE, residential gateways, metro platforms, and core networking technologies while ensuring lab-tested solutions translate successfully into field deployments.

Lead, coach, and develop engineers, technical leads, lab personnel, data and automation contributors, and vendor partners while establishing priorities, accountability, and performance expectations.

Drive technology evaluations and vendor selection using total-cost-of-ownership analysis, while establishing data governance, retention, and quality standards for network telemetry.

Collaborate across engineering, operations, product, field teams, customer experience, security, finance, legal, and senior leadership to align network intelligence initiatives with measurable business outcomes.

Requirements

12+ years of experience in access or core network engineering, network intelligence, telemetry, diagnostics, automation, or related telecommunications technology, including deep expertise in GPON/XGS-PON, OLT/ONT architecture, Wi-Fi/CPE ecosystems, and IP/metro environments.

3–5+ years of progressive people leadership experience managing engineers, technical leads, lab teams, data/automation contributors, vendors, or cross-functional technical organizations.

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Telecommunications, Data Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.

Expert-level knowledge of Wi-Fi technologies, including Wi-Fi 6/6E/7, mesh platforms, RF performance analytics, residential gateways, CPE ecosystems, and Wi-Fi diagnostics.

Proven experience designing and delivering unified telemetry and diagnostics platforms at significant scale, ideally involving millions of managed devices and measurable improvements in support costs or field dispatch rates.

Hands-on knowledge of gNMI/gRPC streaming telemetry, NETCONF/YANG, OMCI, OpenConfig, and Broadband Forum standards including TR-069/CWMP, TR-098, TR-143, TR-157, and TR-181.

Experience with cloud analytics and device management platforms such as Calix Cloud, Nokia HDM/ACS, Plume OpenSync, Assia, or comparable technologies.

Working knowledge of AI/ML applications for network diagnostics, including anomaly detection, predictive failure models, and log analytics.

Experience architecting cloud-ready, microservices-based orchestration platforms that integrate access, Wi-Fi, metro, and core telemetry with backend systems.

Experience building or operating a technology lab, certification center, or similar environment, including vendor equipment programs, test methodologies, QA standards, and certification-cycle management.

Strong analytical and financial acumen, with the ability to connect network intelligence investments to customer experience, operational efficiency, cost reduction, and broader business value.

Excellent executive communication, stakeholder management, and cross-functional leadership skills, with the ability to influence technical and business leaders.

Strong coaching and talent-development capabilities, combined with the ability to establish clear priorities, decision rights, accountability, and delivery standards.

Preferred experience includes MPLS telemetry, BGP analytics, transport performance monitoring, FWA/LTE/5G CPE integration, FTTP programs, or intellectual property related to network diagnostics and device management.
