Accountabilities
- Drive consistent sales, gross margin, and profitable growth across assigned accounts while meeting or exceeding annual sales budgets.
- Develop accurate sales forecasts and provide information for consensus planning, production, and inventory management.
- Lead business expansion and sales growth throughout the assigned territory by identifying and prioritizing new commercial opportunities.
- Build and execute strategic account plans, including customer sales projects designed to exceed territory growth expectations.
- Manage the full sales cycle, from prospect identification and relationship development through technical presentations, negotiations, closing, and implementation.
- Establish strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels of customer organizations and maintain those relationships throughout the customer lifecycle.
- Deliver technical and commercial presentations that clearly communicate the value of products and solutions to prospective and existing customers.
- Collaborate with marketing, product development, and other cross-functional teams to develop and execute territory-specific growth strategies.
- Support product development initiatives by bringing customer feedback, market intelligence, and commercial insights to internal teams.
- Lead customer startup programs and support product testing, including high-level customer meetings and testing activities at manufacturing facilities when required.
- Maintain an active customer engagement cadence, targeting an average of 20 customer meetings per month.
- Work collaboratively with other Account Managers through team-selling approaches when appropriate.
- Attend and actively participate in industry trade shows, conferences, and other events to strengthen relationships and identify new opportunities.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science, Agriculture, Business, Economics, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
- At least 5 years of sales experience, ideally within the animal nutrition, agriculture, beef, or related industry.
- Strong understanding of biological sciences and the ability to translate technical concepts into compelling commercial presentations.
- Demonstrated experience managing sales projects from initial opportunity identification through successful completion.
- Strong knowledge of customer relationship development, strategic account management, and consultative sales practices.
- High energy, personal motivation, and a proactive approach to identifying opportunities and taking ownership of results.
- Excellent project management, organization, prioritization, and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple customer initiatives simultaneously.
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building abilities, with confidence engaging stakeholders across different levels of an organization.
- Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and negotiation skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and database development tools, with the ability to learn and train others on relevant systems.
- Willingness and ability to travel up to 50% to support customers, attend industry events, and conduct business activities.
- Ability to successfully complete a post-offer background check and drug screening, along with any additional pre-employment requirements applicable to the position.
