Senior Back-end Engineer (N)

This is a senior engineering opportunity focused on building secure, scalable, and high-performance backend systems for digital health <platforms.You> will design APIs, services, and infrastructure that support web and mobile products used by enterprise healthcare organizations.The role is primarily backend and cloud focused, with approximately 80% of the work centered on backend engineering and <infrastructure.You> will work closely with Product, Front-End, Data, and DevOps teams in a modern, collaborative engineering environment.Your work will contribute to systems that must meet demanding healthcare security and compliance standards.The position offers the opportunity to solve complex technical challenges while working with cloud-native technologies and modern development <practices.You> will also have opportunities to explore AI-powered tools that improve engineering productivity and automation.

Accountabilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable, secure, and reliable server-side components, APIs, and backend services.
• Build RESTful and/or GraphQL APIs, business logic, database queries, and relational data models in collaboration with Product and Front-End teams.
• Develop and maintain backend services using TypeScript and Node.js, with deployments across AWS and Kubernetes environments.
• Contribute to cloud infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure automation using Docker, Kubernetes, GitHub Actions, and related technologies.
• Apply strong security and engineering practices to support compliance with HIPAA, SOC 2, HITRUST, and other applicable healthcare requirements.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize backend performance, reliability, scalability, and observability.
• Write clean, maintainable, well-documented code supported by appropriate unit and integration testing.
• Contribute to frontend development using React when needed, while maintaining a primary focus on backend and cloud engineering.
• Collaborate with Product, Data, DevOps, and other engineering stakeholders throughout agile development cycles.
• Participate in sprint planning, implementation, code reviews, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement using tools such as Jira, Confluence, and GitHub.
• Explore and adopt AI-powered development tools and automation techniques to improve engineering efficiency and reduce development time.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional backend software development experience, preferably within SaaS, healthcare technology, or digital health environments.
• Strong expertise in TypeScript and Node.js, with solid experience developing RESTful APIs and/or GraphQL servers.
• Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL and relational database design, queries, and data modeling.
• Strong experience with AWS services and Kubernetes-based container orchestration.
• Solid understanding of microservices architecture, backend scalability, security best practices, and cloud-native development.
• Experience with Docker, GitHub, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure-as-code practices.
• Familiarity with healthcare security and compliance frameworks, particularly HIPAA, SOC 2, and HITRUST.
• Experience working in fast-paced, iterative, and agile product development environments.
• Some experience with React or frontend development is beneficial, although deep frontend expertise is not required.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, communication, and collaboration skills.
• Ability to work proactively, independently, and with strong attention to detail in a distributed team environment.
• Fluent English communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Interest in learning and applying AI tools to accelerate software development, backend engineering, and automation.
• Candidates must be based in a LATAM country.
