This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Automation QA Engineer (SDET) based in Brazil.
As a Senior SDET, you will help ensure the quality, reliability, and scalability of large-scale data platforms supporting critical benefits-related <services.You> will design and implement automated testing strategies that operate at scale and integrate seamlessly into modern CI/CD pipelines.Working across front-end, back-end, APIs, databases, and data pipelines, you will identify risks and build robust solutions that prevent defects from reaching <production.You> will partner closely with engineers, product managers, QA specialists, data engineers, and technical leaders to embed quality into the development lifecycle from the start.The role combines hands-on automation engineering with framework evolution, performance testing, debugging, and root-cause <analysis.You> will contribute to fast feedback cycles across frequent code submissions while helping establish a strong culture of shared quality ownership.This is a remote opportunity suited to an experienced engineer who enjoys solving complex technical problems and continuously improving testing practices.
Accountabilities
- Analyze front-end and back-end systems to identify quality, reliability, performance, and scalability risks.
- Design, develop, deploy, and maintain automated testing solutions capable of operating at large scale.
- Build and execute automated test cases covering functional behavior, regression scenarios, integrations, data processing, and service reliability.
- Perform integration testing across APIs, databases, flat files, and other system interfaces.
- Collaborate with engineering teams during requirements definition and technical design reviews to incorporate automation and testability into new features from the beginning.
- Evaluate existing test automation frameworks and identify opportunities to improve their reliability, maintainability, coverage, and scalability.
- Research, recommend, and implement modern automation tools, techniques, and testing approaches.
- Maintain and enhance automated tests integrated into CI/CD pipelines, enabling rapid and reliable feedback on code submissions.
- Perform performance testing and help identify bottlenecks or reliability issues across services and data-processing workflows.
- Investigate defects, debug complex issues, perform root-cause analysis, and support incident and SLA management activities.
- Identify quality issues affecting data collection, storage, processing, and downstream data pipelines.
- Champion quality ownership across engineering teams and promote effective QA methodologies and automation best practices.
- Clearly communicate technical findings, risks, recommendations, and testing results to both technical and cross-functional stakeholders.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 4+ years of experience as an SDET, Automation QA Engineer, or Software Engineer with significant testing and automation responsibilities.
- Strong professional programming experience with C#, Python, or Go.
- Solid understanding of Object-Oriented Programming principles and software engineering practices.
- Hands-on experience designing, building, and maintaining automated test frameworks.
- Experience working across both Windows and Linux environments.
- Professional experience with at least one major cloud platform, such as Azure, AWS, or GCP.
- Practical performance testing experience with tools such as JMeter, Locust, Gatling, or k6.
- Strong knowledge of relational databases, including technologies such as SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, or MariaDB.
- Experience testing or troubleshooting streaming and messaging platforms such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, or Pub/Sub.
- Strong Git workflow knowledge and experience working with collaborative source-control practices.
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD platforms such as Azure DevOps, Jenkins, CircleCI, GitLab, Codefresh, or Rundeck.
- Experience with root-cause analysis, incident management, SLA-driven environments, debugging, and data-pipeline troubleshooting.
- Solid understanding of QA methodologies, including functional, performance, regression, black-box, and white-box testing.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate complex systems and identify underlying causes of issues.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to engineers and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Curiosity and genuine enthusiasm for continuous learning, experimentation, and improving engineering quality.
- Knowledge of healthcare technology and benefits systems is a plus, particularly EDI, NCPDP, and pharmacy/PBM transaction processing.
- Experience working in HIPAA-, PCI-, or similarly regulated high-security environments is desirable.
- Open-source contribution experience is an additional advantage.
