As a Senior Medical Editor, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy, clarity, consistency, and regulatory compliance of healthcare and pharmaceutical marketing <materials.You> will work across print and digital projects supporting major pharmaceutical and life sciences clients.The role combines meticulous editorial review, medical fact-checking, regulatory awareness, and close collaboration with creative and account <teams.You> will help ensure content follows AMA style, client guidelines, medical/legal/regulatory requirements, and approved creative <briefs.You>’ll work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment where accuracy and quality are essential to successful project delivery.The position also offers opportunities to mentor colleagues, shape editorial standards, and contribute to complex medical communications <programs.It> is an ideal opportunity for an experienced healthcare editor who is passionate about science, precision, and high-quality patient- and healthcare-focused communications.
Accountabilities
- Review and edit healthcare and pharmaceutical content for spelling, grammar, punctuation, consistency, tone, accuracy, balance, and adherence to creative briefs.
- Ensure materials follow AMA 11th edition style, client-specific style guides, and applicable medical, legal, and regulatory requirements.
- Fact-check medical and scientific content and verify references to ensure information is accurate, appropriate, and properly supported.
- Participate in the early development stages of projects to establish consistency in content structure, presentation, and editorial direction.
- Collaborate with authors, clinical writers, account teams, production specialists, and other stakeholders to refine content and facilitate efficient project completion.
- Participate in internal project kickoff, startup, and status meetings as the editorial representative.
- Ensure project materials align with each client's MLR submission process and provide editorial support throughout the review and approval cycle.
- Assist with preparation of materials for medical, legal, and regulatory submissions as needed.
- Develop and maintain editorial style guides and standards for cross-functional and departmental use.
- Mentor and train editorial team members and other internal partners on editorial standards, processes, and best practices.
- Support the development of internal, corporate, and other non-client materials when required.
- Manage multiple projects and deadlines while maintaining a consistently high standard of editorial accuracy and quality.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Communications, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of editing experience within the healthcare, pharmaceutical, medical communications, or related industry.
- Strong knowledge of AMA 11th edition style and professional medical editing standards.
- Experience editing both print and digital healthcare or pharmaceutical materials.
- Familiarity with medical, legal, and regulatory review processes and requirements.
- Strong medical and scientific fact-checking skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and experience editing electronic files, including familiarity with Adobe Acrobat Professional.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to provide clear and constructive editorial feedback.
- Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work effectively with writers, account teams, production, and other cross-functional partners.
- Ability to work quickly and manage multiple projects without compromising accuracy or quality.
- Strong organizational skills, flexibility, and the ability to prioritize competing deadlines in a fast-paced agency environment.
- Experience in advertising, pharmaceutical marketing, medical communications, or medical education is preferred.
- Familiarity with Veeva, Zinc, or other MLR submission platforms is an advantage.
- Knowledge of FDA requirements applicable to pharmaceutical advertising is preferred.

- Estimated annual salary range of $70,000–$98,000 USD, with compensation determined based on skills, experience, training, qualifications, location, and business needs.
