About The Role

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Director, Finance based in the United States.

The Director, Finance will provide strategic financial leadership across a complex, technology-enabled organization supporting high-impact work in the life sciences and clinical research sector.This role will lead FP&A, forecasting, budgeting, financial modeling, executive reporting, and broader financial planning <activities.You> will act as a trusted business partner to senior executives and operational leaders, translating financial data into actionable insights and strategic recommendations.The position combines hands-on financial leadership with responsibility for strengthening processes, controls, reporting, and operational <efficiency.You> will also contribute to corporate initiatives including M&A, capital planning, profitability analysis, and long-range business <strategy.As> a people leader, you will develop a high-performing finance team while fostering accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.This is an opportunity to influence enterprise-level decisions while helping a global organization achieve sustainable growth and financial transparency.

Accountabilities

Financial planning and analysis: Lead monthly forecasting, annual budgeting, long-range financial planning, and budget-to-actual reviews across the organization.

Executive reporting: Develop comprehensive financial reporting, trend analyses, performance packages, and executive-level presentations that highlight key business drivers, risks, and opportunities.

Financial modeling: Build and maintain sophisticated financial models to assess profitability, operational performance, investments, business scenarios, and strategic opportunities.

Performance management: Monitor key performance indicators, analyze material variances between actual and forecast results, identify trends, and provide recommendations to improve financial and operational performance.

Strategic partnership: Partner with segment presidents, vice presidents, and senior business leaders to evaluate performance, support strategic initiatives, and guide financial decision-making.

Executive and Board support: Prepare financial materials and analysis for executive leadership, Audit Committee, and Board of Directors presentations.

Corporate finance: Support mergers and acquisitions, including financial analysis, integration, reporting, forecasting, and related strategic initiatives.

Profitability and cost management: Develop cost and profitability models across business units, departments, and products, helping leadership understand financial performance and investment priorities.

Capital planning: Support capital expenditure forecasting and reporting, including investments associated with software development and technology initiatives.

Financial governance: Assist with the development and implementation of financial policies, controls, procedures, and processes that improve transparency, accuracy, and operational efficiency.

Audit partnership: Serve as a liaison with internal and external audit teams and support the preparation of required financial information and documentation.

Leadership and development: Lead, coach, mentor, and develop finance professionals while setting clear expectations, conducting performance reviews, and supporting career development.

Talent management: Participate in recruiting, interviewing, hiring, onboarding, and training activities to build and maintain a strong finance organization.

Continuous improvement: Foster a collaborative, high-performance culture focused on accountability, analytical rigor, process improvement, and effective business partnership.

Ad hoc analysis: Provide timely financial and operational analysis to support emerging business priorities and senior leadership decisions.

Requirements

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related discipline required.

Experience: 15+ years of progressive experience in corporate finance, FP&A, or related finance leadership positions.

People leadership: 10+ years of experience managing, developing, and mentoring finance teams and direct reports.

FP&A expertise: Strong experience across forecasting, budgeting, financial planning, variance analysis, financial modeling, and performance reporting.

Executive partnership: Demonstrated ability to work effectively with senior executives and business leaders and translate complex financial information into clear recommendations.

Communication: Strong presentation, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to confidently communicate financial results and strategic insights to executive audiences.

Technical proficiency: Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience working with financial reporting and analysis tools.

Analytical ability: Strong quantitative and problem-solving skills, including the ability to manage complex datasets and identify meaningful business trends.

Prioritization: Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, projects, and deadlines in a fast-paced and evolving environment.

M&A: Experience supporting mergers, acquisitions, financial integration, and post-acquisition planning is preferred.

Technology finance: Experience supporting software development organizations, technology-enabled businesses, software licensing models, or capitalized software accounting is a plus.

Global finance: Familiarity with foreign currency accounting and multinational financial operations is beneficial.

Industry experience: Experience in healthcare, clinical research, technology, life sciences, or another regulated industry is preferred.

Regulatory knowledge: Working knowledge of FDA regulations is a plus.

Credentials: CPA certification and/or an MBA or equivalent advanced business degree is preferred.
