This is a senior technical leadership opportunity focused on designing, developing, and modernizing sophisticated enterprise software <systems.You> will remain highly hands-on, with significant coding responsibilities while providing technical direction to engineering teams and partners.The role combines software architecture, microservices, workflow orchestration, production reliability, and technology <modernization.You> will influence technology strategy, establish reusable engineering practices, and help reduce technical debt across complex application environments.The position requires close collaboration with architects, vendors, business stakeholders, and multidisciplinary technology <teams.You> will also lead critical incident resolution, root-cause analysis, and long-term improvements that strengthen system reliability and quality.This fully remote role offers broad organizational visibility and the opportunity to shape technology direction in a healthcare-focused environment.

Accountabilities

  • Lead the technical delivery and guidance of complex projects and programs across an application family, ensuring alignment with strategic technology priorities.
  • Design, architect, develop, and maintain sophisticated software solutions while remaining highly hands-on with coding and implementation.
  • Collaborate with multiple vendor partners to establish project estimates, delivery plans, timelines, technical expectations, and quality standards.
  • Ensure the technological integrity and overall quality of vendor-delivered solutions across concurrent projects and programs.
  • Drive technology modernization initiatives, including technical debt reduction, process improvements, and optimization of existing application environments.
  • Partner with enterprise architects to influence decisions regarding the adoption, retirement, and evolution of technologies within the broader architecture.
  • Develop and promote engineering best practices, reusable components, standards, and guidelines that improve consistency and technology utilization.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to less experienced engineers, supporting knowledge sharing and capability development across internal and partner teams.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for complex components of the application environment and provide high-level technical expertise across interconnected technology systems.
  • Lead response to critical production incidents, troubleshooting efforts, and root-cause analyses while driving sustainable solutions to prevent recurrence.
  • Represent the technology organization in cross-functional and vendor partner settings, translating complex technical concepts for stakeholders at different organizational levels.
  • Take ownership of special projects and strategic initiatives with significant organizational visibility and impact.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline; a Master’s degree is preferred, with equivalent professional experience considered.
  • 12–15 years of relevant software engineering experience, including at least 3–5 years in a senior, principal, or comparable technical leadership position.
  • Extensive hands-on development experience with .NET Unified Platform V8 and .NET Framework 4.8.
  • Experience implementing workflow orchestration engines within microservice-based software architectures; experience with Camunda Cloud is preferred.
  • Advanced understanding of software engineering principles, theories, architecture patterns, and technical practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and implement innovative solutions aligned with complex organizational objectives.
  • Strong experience with Agile software development methodologies and multidisciplinary technology teams.
  • Extensive experience working within vendor-partner models, including technical oversight, collaboration, delivery management, and quality assurance.
  • Strong customer orientation and the ability to communicate technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • An innovation-oriented mindset with the curiosity and adaptability to evaluate emerging technologies and improve existing systems.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving capabilities, including experience conducting root-cause analysis for complex production issues.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, adapt to changing environments, and deliver against demanding project deadlines.
  • Willingness and flexibility to work outside standard hours when critical project deadlines or production issues require additional support.
  • Healthcare or pharmacy benefit management industry experience is preferred.
  • Experience with Java or React development is a plus.
