This is a senior leadership opportunity focused on shaping public policy, government engagement, and strategic partnerships across India’s rapidly evolving AI <landscape.You> will serve as a key representative in discussions with policymakers, regulators, industry associations, and other influential stakeholders.The role combines policy expertise with business impact, helping advance responsible AI frameworks while supporting public-sector adoption of innovative <technology.You> will monitor regulatory developments, assess their implications, and provide strategic guidance to senior leadership on emerging opportunities and risks.The position offers significant scope to influence policy campaigns, government relationships, and initiatives spanning AI governance, safety, privacy, copyright, and digital <rights.You> will collaborate closely with legal, safety, security, go-to-market, and regional teams in a high-velocity, globally distributed environment.This role is ideal for an experienced public policy professional who thrives in ambiguity, builds trusted relationships, and wants to contribute to the future of AI in India.

Accountabilities

Lead engagement with government bodies and officials across India on issues including AI governance, AI safety, copyright, privacy, transparency, data protection, competition, and digital rights.

Build and maintain trusted, long-term relationships with policymakers, regulators, industry associations, civil society organizations, and other strategic stakeholders.

Monitor, analyze, and communicate emerging regulatory and policy developments that may affect business operations, products, or market opportunities.

Represent the organization at conferences, industry forums, policy discussions, and other relevant events, advancing public policy objectives and strengthening external relationships.

Provide strategic advice to senior leadership on regional policy trends, regulatory developments, and their potential business implications.

Partner with Legal, Safety, Security, and other internal teams to support the development of effective policies and responsible AI practices.

Work closely with go-to-market teams to identify opportunities for government adoption of AI products and services and support public-sector engagement.

Develop and execute policy campaigns, stakeholder initiatives, and broader impact programs that advance strategic objectives.

Help anticipate policy risks and opportunities and translate complex regulatory developments into actionable recommendations for internal teams.

Contribute to a culture of responsible innovation by promoting constructive dialogue around emerging AI technologies and their societal impact.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in public policy, government affairs, or related policy roles across the public or private sector, including in-house or consulting/firm environments.
  • Significant experience working on technology and AI policy, with a strong understanding of the Indian policy and regulatory landscape.
  • Strong knowledge of AI governance, safety, copyright, privacy, transparency, data protection, competition, digital rights, and related emerging technology issues.
  • Demonstrated track record of designing, advocating for, and influencing policy outcomes, including successful coalition-building and stakeholder engagement.
  • Proven public policy and government affairs experience across India.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively brief government officials, policymakers, executives, and diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Fluency in English and Hindi.
  • Genuine curiosity about artificial intelligence, emerging technologies, and their potential impact on society and business.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, high-growth environment with changing priorities and limited bureaucracy.
  • Strong independent judgment and comfort working through ambiguity, making informed decisions, and taking ownership of complex initiatives.
  • Proactive, pragmatic, and solution-oriented approach, with a focus on delivering measurable impact.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills and the ability to work effectively with legal, safety, security, commercial, and regional teams.
