Music Audio Expert

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Music Audio Expert based in Brazil.

This is a fully remote, part-time opportunity for an experienced music professional to help evaluate and improve generative AI music <systems.You> will use your expertise in music production, audio engineering, performance, and songwriting to assess AI-generated musical content.The role involves comparing outputs, evaluating musical quality, and applying structured criteria across vocals, lyrics, instrumentation, creativity, and <production.You> will also provide detailed annotations that help characterize genres, song structures, and vocal and instrumental elements.Your musical judgment will directly contribute to the development and refinement of next-generation AI models.The project offers flexible scheduling, meaningful technical work, and the opportunity to collaborate indirectly with leading AI research <teams.It> is particularly suited to bilingual music professionals who enjoy applying their creative and technical expertise to emerging AI technologies.

Accountabilities

• Evaluate AI-generated music outputs, including lyrics, vocals, musicality, creativity, prompt adherence, and overall production quality.
• Compare musical samples head-to-head and assess differences using appropriate music production and audio-engineering terminology.
• Evaluate the quality and relevance of musical training data according to established criteria.
• Annotate songs using structured taxonomies covering genre and sub-genre, song structure, vocal characteristics, instrumentation, and other musical attributes.
• Apply knowledge of music theory, performance, songwriting, production, mixing, and audio engineering when assessing model outputs.
• Identify strengths, weaknesses, inconsistencies, and quality issues across generated musical content.
• Write and evaluate lyrical music in Portuguese and apply native-level cultural and linguistic understanding when assessing content.
• Follow detailed project guidelines and instructions provided in English while maintaining consistency and accuracy across evaluations.
• Contribute expert feedback that supports the training and improvement of advanced generative AI models.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of professional experience as a music producer, audio engineer, sound mixer, musician, songwriter, or in a closely related field.
• Strong understanding of musical performance, music theory, songwriting, lyrics, arrangement, and production.
• Demonstrated experience writing lyrical music in Portuguese.
• Native or near-native proficiency in Portuguese and strong professional proficiency in English.
• Ability to evaluate music using technical concepts and terminology related to musicality, vocal performance, mixing, production, and sound quality.
• Strong listening and analytical skills, with the ability to distinguish and articulate subtle differences between audio outputs.
• A degree in music or a comparable educational background involving performance, music theory, and songwriting is preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to consistently apply structured evaluation criteria.
• Comfortable working independently, following detailed instructions, and managing flexible part-time project work.
• Interest in generative AI and enthusiasm for applying professional music expertise to emerging AI technologies.
