[About the role]
GovTech builds digital products for the Singapore Government. We're hiring a Product Ops Specialist to work on NEA's shared technical infrastructure and platform services. This role sits at the intersection of operations, data, and product delivery. You'll work with Product Managers, engineers, and NEA's infrastructure team to keep shared platforms running well, surface insights from data, and make sure what we ship works for the teams and users depending on it. Your work underpins every other product team at NEA. The technical services team provides the shared building blocks that all digital products rely on: authentication, payments, notifications, API gateway, monitoring, and data infrastructure. These are the blocks that make everything work. Today, NEA's systems are fragmented, monitoring is inconsistent, and teams lack real-time visibility into system health. The products you'll support create the shared foundation that makes everything else faster, save cost, and increase reliablity.
[What you will be working on]
Work with Product Managers as a partner, not support staff
Co-own outcome metrics (platform uptime, system observability coverage, adoption of shared services by other product teams, time-to-delivery for new requirements)
Build relationships across product, engineering, infrastructure, and the teams that consume your platforms
Ideate, set up and maintain processes using DevOps tools and platforms
Turn data into decisions
Set up and maintain the product intelligence layer (data pipelines, dashboards, feedback repositories)
Surface actionable insights that PMs act on
Track whether insights lead to changes (did that feedback become a feature? did the dashboard change a decision?)
Build and maintain observability dashboards that give teams real-time visibility into system performance and health
Run tight operations
Design playbooks, templates, and operating standards that teams default to
Own risk and incident management for shared platform services
Drive standardisation of monitoring and observability practices across all NEA product teams
Support infrastructure migrations (cloud transitions, decommissioning old hosting, setting up new environments)
Run audit support and ensure compliance with agency and government standards
Challenge existing processes. Share what works and what failed.
Be the voice of the user
Design feedback loops: collect, triage, and route user feedback at scale
Your users are primarily internal product teams who depend on your shared services, plus the end users (citizens and businesses) who interact with systems built on your platforms
Keep teams aligned
Build operating cadences across product, engineering, ops, and vendors
Mentor team members. Grow the Product Ops practice within the agency.
Drive OKRs that connect operational work to product and agency outcomes.
[What we are looking for]
Background
Experience working in a product or tech team. You've seen how product development works up close: sprint rituals, roadmap trade-offs, shipping under constraints. You think in outcomes, not outputs. You've worked as or with product managers and with engineers and designers, not just managed timelines.
4-10 years in product operations, ops management, or a related coordination-heavy role with excellent stakeholder management.
Can work independently on ambiguous problems across multiple product areas.
Experience working in an environment where product thinking and execution matter.
Skills
- Comfortable in Jira, Confluence and other DevOps tools.
- Adept with working on/building dashboards and working with data (Tableau, Power BI, or similar).
- Product management or agile certifications are a plus, not a requirement.
- Familiarity with infrastructure concepts (cloud hosting, APIs, monitoring tools, system health metrics) is a plus.
- Traits that matter here
- You default to clarity over complexity.
- You notice when a process is inefficient and/or exists for its own sake and you fix it.
- You're comfortable pushing back on senior stakeholders when the qualitative and/or quantitative data says otherwise.
- You care about whether the thing shipped actually solved the problem.
- You think in platforms: how to build something once so ten teams can use it, instead of ten teams building it ten times.
What it is like working here
Rapid Prototyping - Instead of spending too much time debating ideas we prefer testing them. This identifies potential problems quickly, and more importantly, conveys what is possible to others easily.
Ownership - In addition to technical responsibilities, this means having opinions on what is being done and having ideas on what should be done next. Building something that you believe in is the best way to build something good.
Continuous Learning - Working on new ideas often means not fully understanding what you are working on. Taking time to learn new architecture, frameworks, technologies, and even languages is not just encouraged but essential.
