Role / Department The Global Institutional Client Group (GICG) is responsible for establishing and cultivating partnerships with Institutional Investors across the EMEA region. The Associate role plays an instrumental role in supporting those client relationships across the region, with significant emphasis on the Netherlands. The role works alongside the GICG team in the servicing of institutional clients and prospective clients. They will interact directly with clients to understand their servicing needs and investment objectives, respond to client requests, and provide in-depth information about our products and services. Given the nature of the role, the Associate will get exposure to a mixture of activities and teams including distribution, operations, product and investment-related activities. Northern Trust is looking for a proactive, collaborative, and diligent individual to further strengthen the team. Key Responsibilities: Ensures overall and optimal client satisfaction by facilitating efforts of relationship team and broader distribution team, coordinating resources to ensure timely delivery and issue-resolution, and effectively communicating client concerns/needs to Northern Trust partners. This includes working closely with the Relationship Managers and acting as escalation point when needed. Develops good understanding of client's business, objectives, goals and market challenges, and ensure information flow and support from the team is consistent. Cultivate strong internal working relationships and advocating on behalf of the client internally. Coordinates with all appropriate teams on account set up, cash flows, fee reviews, and client data maintenance. Executes daily client activity and assists clients and internal partners with service requests. Work with Relationship Managers and distribution team to develop a clear understanding of client requirements and bring perspectives and recommend enhancements in processes, products, or services based on conversations with clients through their experience. Involvement in projects or tasks to enhance the client experience, and other projects that may affect Investment Management clients or the GICG team Coordinates client visits, due diligence questionnaires, request for information, and other deliverables for clients. Assist with preparation for client and prospective client meetings including presentation decks & briefing memos. Knowledge/Skills Development of a broad understanding of asset management services and an in-depth knowledge of the complexities of our Institutional Clients across investor type and geography. Work alongside senior distribution professionals focusing on existing and new clients. Exposure to investment experts across asset classes to build knowledge of NTAM capabilities and differentiators in the market place. Effective communication, active listening, trust building as well as hands on problem solving, analytical skills . Skills & Experience 0-5 years of experience in institutional client servicing, client support, or a related role. Exposure to asset management, investment management, or financial services preferred; a minimum of 2 years’ investment-related experience is desirable but not essential. Experience supporting institutional or professional clients across multiple stakeholders and deliverables is advantageous. Familiarity with CRM systems (e.g. Salesforce) and strong working knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint; experience with Adobe Writer is a plus. Fluency in the local language (Dutch) is required, with strong proficiency in English for regional and global stakeholder interaction.
