We are seeking a candidate based in India to align with our “Office First” strategy, while collaborating with a geographically distributed team that supports both our UK and European entities.

Our Core Business Payments product allows customers in any sector to connect to us and our expanding network of accounting and payroll platforms, including Sage, Xero, BrightPay and IRIS to automate payments. Our Vertical Solutions targets a growing range of industry verticals which directly connect their IT platforms to our APIs and webhooks.
We solve complex payment problems for hundreds of clients in a range of industries, including Travel, Lending, Wage Advance, and Investment & Wealth.
We are deeply integrated into the payment ecosystem. Across the UK and Europe our payment network connectivity includes FPS, BACS, CHAPS, Open Banking, SEPA, SWIFT and account issuance in multiple currencies. Modulr holds settlement accounts at the Bank of England. We are a principal member of Visa and Mastercard schemes across the UK and Europe.
Our regulatory permissions and governance structure are the foundations of our business. We are regulated and supervised as an Authorised Electronic Money Institution in the UK by the Financial Conduct Authority and in the Netherlands by De Nederlandsche Bank.

The Role
The CDD Onboarding Team Lead is responsible for leading a team of Customer Due Diligence (CDD) Analysts performing onboarding and Know Your Customer (KYC) & Know Your Business (KYB) reviews for business customers. The role ensures all customer applications are assessed accurately, efficiently, and in line with regulatory requirements, internal policies, and service level agreements.
The successful candidate will drive operational excellence, support team development, manage performance, and act as a key escalation point for complex onboarding and financial crime-related matters.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership & People Management
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of CDD Onboarding Analysts.
- Conduct regular one-to-one meetings, performance reviews, and development discussions.
- Monitor individual and team productivity, quality, and SLA adherence.
- Foster a high-performance, customer-focused culture.
- Support recruitment, onboarding, and training of new team members.
- Manage workforce planning and allocation of workloads.
Customer Due Diligence & Onboarding
- Oversee onboarding reviews for corporate, sole trader, partnership, and regulated entities.
- Ensure robust verification of customer identity, business activity, ownership structure, and source of funds.
- Review and approve higher-risk or complex customer applications within delegated authority levels.
- Provide guidance on Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) requirements.
- Act as an escalation point for unusual or complex cases.
Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure compliance with UK and international AML, CTF, sanctions, and regulatory obligations.
- Maintain strong understanding of FCA expectations, financial crime risks, and payment industry regulations.
- Identify emerging risks and recommend process improvements.
- Support internal audits, compliance reviews, and regulatory requests.
- Ensure accurate record-keeping and audit trail maintenance.
Operational Excellence
- Monitor KPIs, quality metrics, backlog management, and onboarding turnaround times.
- Identify process inefficiencies and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with Product, Compliance, Risk, and Customer Success teams to improve customer journeys.
- Produce management information (MI) and performance reporting.
Stakeholder Management
- Partner with Financial Crime, Compliance, Risk, and Operations teams.
- Communicate effectively with senior stakeholders regarding performance, risks, and operational challenges.
- Support strategic projects and operational transformation initiatives.
Required Experience & Qualifications
Essential
- 5+ years of experience in KYC/CDD, AML, Financial Crime, Banking & Fintech Operations.
- Minimum 2+ years of people management or team leadership experience.
- Experience working within fintech, payments, banking, or regulated financial services.
- Strong analytical and decision-making skills.
