  • As part of
  • Siemens Operations Software (OPS-SW), the Technology, Data Fabric & Agentic
  • AI organization provides the technology foundation that enables the next
  • generation of industrial software. Its portfolio includes AI Production &
  • Engineering Systems, Data Fabric, Agentic AI frameworks, connectivity
  • platforms, semantic data models, cloud-native architectures, and industrial AI
  • services that power autonomous, scalable, and intelligent operations across the
  • OPS-SW portfolio.
  • As **Director
  • of Research & Development – Connectivity**, you will take technological
  • leadership of our newly established Connectivity organization within DI SW
  • Operations Software (OpsSW). You will be responsible for a globally distributed
  • R&D organization across multiple locations and time zones. At the heart of
  • your work stands the Information Connector – Digital Industries' consolidated
  • connectivity product and the technical foundation for the Operational Data
  • Fabric and the Agentic AI layer of OpsSW. You will further shape the consistent
  • adoption of modern AI tools across the entire software engineering process and
  • establish AI as an integral element of your team's engineering culture.
  • **Your Area of Impact**
  • Technical and disciplinary
  • leadership of the global R&D organization of the Connectivity unit
  • across multiple locations and time zones, and steering of external
  • development partners
  • Ownership of the consolidation
  • of existing connectivity products into the Information Connector and
  • reliable delivery of the product roadmap
  • Responsibility for the
  • cross-platform architecture (Industrial Edge, Kubernetes) and for broad
  • support of industrial devices and protocols
  • Ensure maintenance of legacy

connectivity products and support sunset paths

  • Support customer engagement and

steer customer critical issues

  • Establishment and scaling of AI
  • usage across the full software engineering lifecycle (e.g., AI-assisted
  • code generation, test automation, code reviews, architecture and
  • documentation support) including selection, rollout, and governance of the
  • corresponding tools
  • Fostering an engineering
  • culture in which AI-assisted ways of working are the standard and are
  • continuously evolved – with a clear focus on productivity, quality, and
  • time-to-market
  • Establishment of unified
  • engineering practices, architecture governance, and quality processes
  • across previously separate teams
  • Close collaboration with the
  • Data Fabric and Agentic AI teams as well as with the OpsSW Business Lines
  • to ensure flawless integration of the Information Connector both as a
  • standalone product and as an embedded component
  • Ensuring cybersecurity,
  • regulatory compliance (incl. CRA), modern license management,
  • and product certifications
  • Building a unified,
  • capability-oriented engineering culture without product or origin-based
  • silos
  • Ownership of the R&D budget
  • of the Connectivity unit and optimization of investment allocation across
  • sites and capability areas
  • **Your Success is Based on**
  • Several years of experience
  • leading sizeable software R&D organizations, ideally in the fields of
  • industrial software, IIoT, edge computing, or industrial connectivity
  • Proven experience leading
  • globally distributed development teams, including strong cross-cultural
  • leadership skills
  • Deep technical understanding of
  • edge platforms and industrial protocols, as well as of data and semantic
  • modeling
  • Validated experience
  • introducing and scaling AI-assisted engineering practices and evaluating
  • modern AI coding and engineering tools
  • Experience consolidating and

migrating complex product landscapes

  • Familiarity with Agile / SAFe
  • at Scale, modern DevOps practices, and product-oriented engineering
  • organization
  • Strong ability to navigate the
  • tension between new product development, installed-base care, and legacy
  • sunset
  • Affinity for AI-driven product
  • evolution and for the role of connectivity as an enabler for autonomous
  • manufacturing
  • Excellent communication,
  • facilitation, and presentation skills, as well as experience in direct
  • interaction at senior management level
  • Strong ability to develop
  • constructive solutions even in sensitive discussions while maintaining
  • focus on win-win situations
  • Fluent
  • English skills, German advantageous
