Junior Software Engineer

• Own a well-scoped task end to end. The problem and the approach are defined for you; you carry it from there to shipped, working code without needing step-by-step direction.
• Then take it further. As you find your feet, ask why we are building something, question the approach you were handed, and start proposing your own, backed by data rather than the first pattern that fits.
• Build the smallest thing that solves it: boring tech, readable code, AI directed against explicit criteria and caught when it is wrong.
• Ship safely: small PRs, behind flags where it matters, and confirm your change actually landed.
• Communicate clearly: status that says done, next, blocked, and a heads-up the moment scope changes.
• Take initiative to keep your work moving, and when you get stuck, ask for help early with what you have already tried.

What we care about most, whatever your experience

• Critical thinking. You reason to the real cause and can explain your thinking, rather than reach for the first pattern that fits.
• Honesty, low ego, and high agency. You say what is true, take feedback well, and keep moving when you are blocked.

For a junior we weight potential over experience

• Sound fundamentals, and the range to work across the stack and pick up what you do not yet know.
• Good judgment about AI: you can tell when its output is off, and you do not ship it on faith.
• Drive and follow-through: you see your work through, and you stay resourceful when something is hard.
• Some hands-on experience building real software, from internships, projects, or early work. The thinking matters more than the years.

We are looking for a Junior Software Engineer to join Laku6, part of Carousell Group.
