Software Development Engineer II, Amazon Lists

We're looking for a Software Development Engineer II to design and build the systems powering Amazon's next-generation Lists and Collaborative Shopping experiences.Our team is re-imagining how hundreds of millions of customers curate, discover, and connect through lists. We're applying generative AI to transform Wish Lists, shared lists, gifting, and collaborative shopping into intelligent, personalized experiences on top of Tier-1 systems serving billions of daily requests across every Amazon <surface.You>'ll work on services that power these experiences and you'll do it during a pivotal moment as we integrate AI-native capabilities into our core framework. This is a role for someone who enjoys end-to-end ownership: diving into ambiguous customer problems, designing distributed systems that scale, writing production code, and measuring customer impact. You'll work across our full stack (back end services, APIs, and integrations with Amazon's shopping ecosystem) and partner closely with product managers, and designers to ship features that customers use every day.If you're motivated by building systems at massive scale, working with state of the art AI, and shipping customer-facing features that make a visible impact, this team offers all three.Key job responsibilitiesAs a Software Development Engineer, you will:Design, develop, test, and maintain software components and applications that serve hundreds of millions of customersTroubleshoot and resolve software defects using code reviews, log analysis, metrics evaluation, debugging, and other diagnostic techniquesWrite clean, maintainable, and scalable code as part of an agile engineering teamPartner with cross-functional stakeholders to design, develop, test, and launch customer-focused software solutionsApply computer science and engineering principles to solve complex technical challengesDrive continuous improvements in testability, operational excellence, and documentation for owned componentsEnsure proper data classification, storage, and management in compliance with company policiesAbout the teamCustomers shop everywhere and at any time - whether they're making breakfast, commuting to work, or relaxing at home.
