About The Role
Summary : Performs surgical radiographic and/or medical imaging and related procedures to assist in diagnosis and treatment of patients. The Surgical Radiologic Technologist reports to the Manager, Perioperative Services.
Duties
- Performs surgical radiographic and/or medical imaging and related procedures at the request
of a licensed practitioner
- Selects and operates radiography equipment, imaging, and associated accessories to perform
non-invasive procedures
- Prepares, immobilizes, and positions patients and equipment to demonstrate anatomical area of
interest
- Determines and evaluates radiographic technique exposure factors to minimize exposure to
patient, self, and others
- Provides direct patient care, communicates needs to providers and evaluates outcomes
- Practices aseptic techniques
- Assist licensed practitioner with fluoroscopic and specialized interventional radiography and
surgical procedures
- Communicates with all healthcare providers to assure quality of care
- Ensures completion of the study and posting to PACS
- Maintains quality control and quality assurance for the assigned area
- Properly identifies patient prior to performing examinations
- Evaluates radiographs or images for technical quality with proper recording of identification
- Reports any equipment malfunctions; documents in the proper system
- Participates in quality assessments and improvement plans
- Participates as a member of the team to achieve business goals, quality outcomes and customer
satisfaction
- Assist team members as requested or required
Required Education : Associate's Degree Graduate of Committee of Allied Health Education and Accreditation (CAHEA) accredited radiographic program
Required Certification : Certificate by the American Registry of Radiological Technologist in radiography, or registry eligible (must be certified by the American Registry of Radiological Technologists within 90 days of employment) and valid Mississippi Medical Radiation Technologist (MRT) Licensure
Required Experience : One year of experience as a registered Radiologic Technologist
