• consultation through post-operative recovery. Serving as a central point of contact for patients,
• providers, and interdisciplinary teams, the Surgical Navigator MA facilitates timely access to care,
• promotes surgical readiness, and supports optimal clinical outcomes while aligning with Marshall’s
• standards for quality, safety, and patient experience.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Licensure/Certification

• Completion of a Medical Assistant Program or previous Medical Assistant experience preferred.
• Current BLS certification required.

Knowledge/Experience

• Minimum two (2) years in clinic, surgical services, or care coordination required.
• Prior experience in care coordination, navigation, or population health preferred.
• Familiarity with pre-operative clearances workflows and post-acute coordination preferred.
• Previous experience with injections, EKG’s, medication administration and/or taking vital signs

required.

• Knowledge of medical terminology, patient/family health education required.
• Basic computer/data entry and electronic medical record (EMR) experience required.

Skills

• Strong organizational skills and the ability to reprioritize work demands as needed.
• Proficiency in EPIC preferred.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-based environment.
• Accurate and clear clinical documentation in Electronic Medical Record.
• Excels in verbal and written interpersonal communication skills.
• Possesses a pleasant and friendly demeanor and ability to maintain a positive and team-oriented

attitude.

• Comfortable with regularly verifying and processing insurance eligibility and obtaining

• authorization requests, including verifying personal credentials with external partners to obtain
• this information (e.g., ID.me for identity verification for VA insurance coordination).
