Exercise Physiologist

About The Role
- This position may qualify for a sign-on bonus.
- Evaluates cardiac patients, plans and implements a cardiac rehabilitation program. Completes established competencies for the position
- within designated introductory period. Other related duties as assigned.
General Functions
- Demonstrates knowledge and skills required for EKG interpretation, taking and monitoring blood pressure, heart rate, pulse oximetry and fitness equipment
- Administers appropriate treatments to patients
- Demonstrates knowledge of regulatory guidelines (AACVPR), best practices and standard Cardiac Rehabilitation care
- Fosters communication with nurses, doctors, patients and families and other hospital personnel to establish department rapport
- Provides instruction and supervision to student interns and volunteers ss well as input for performance appraisals.
- Maintains timely and accurate medical records
- Utilizes resources efficiently and effectively
- Maintains safe environment
- Addresses patient population-specific needs
- Participates in Performance Improvement activities
- MINIMUM EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Physiology or related field from an accredited college or university
PREFERRED EDUCATION
- MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: 12 week internship in cardiac rehabilitation
- PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: 1-2 years experience with exercise prescription in a clinical setting
REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE
PREFERRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE: American College of Sports Medicine – Clinical Exercise Physiologist
REQUIRED COURSES/ COMPLETIONS (e.g., CPR)
- Must have active healthcare provider Basic Life Support on hire (ARC or AHA); however, must have
- AHA Healthcare Provider BLS within 60 days of hire.
- AHA ACLS must be completed within 60 days of hire or transfer into role.
