The lead of operations for Rehabilitation Services is responsible for leading the daily operations for Prospective Payment System (PPS) in ensuring that the Rehabilitation Facility-Patient Assessment Instrument (IRF-PAI) are completed within Medicare regulations and maximizing reimbursement. In addition, this role will lead the rehab admissions team in efficiencies for process flow, obtaining insurance authorizations and prioritizing patient assessments for rehab readiness. GENERAL DUTIES Complete IRF-PAI and submit it to CMS for reimbursement within required timelines. Maintains a current knowledge of IRF-PAI software and provides expertise on this software within the inpatient rehab setting. Conduct a rehabilitation screening by conducting EMR review, collaborate with rehabilitation MD to ensure patient meets criteria for admission, complete electronic screening form, provide a bedside visit to patient and/or family to educate on the rehabilitation program, and submit for insurance authorization. Maintain updated and ongoing knowledge of Rehab regulations to ensure that rehabilitation services follow CMS regulations for PPS and rehabilitation screenings performed. Thoroughly researches and reviews clinical documentation and makes recommendations to clinical supervisors in areas needing improvement to support and validate rehab criteria and documentation compliance. Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary team members to capture accurate assessment of patient, including interdisciplinary patient treatment plans to facilitate achievement of expected outcomes in collaboration with interdisciplinary team. Verifies appropriate CMG designation through chart review, staff interview, and collaboration with Rehab Medical Director. Periodically audits IRF-PAI, clinical documentation, and billing information to ensure accuracy and consistency of documentation. Works closely and collaboratively with all members of the clinical team to ensure compliance at all levels. Huddle daily and communicate with admissions team to know the daily referrals, lead the team with appropriate workflow processes for efficient outcomes. Collaborate with the team and physicians in resolving concerns with effective communication to expedite admissions to the unit. Interacts with patients, family, staff, and physicians in a professional manner at all times, and handles patient, visitor, or physician complaints promptly and in a professional manner. Serves as a resource to department staff, students, volunteers and other departments, and contributes to teamwork essential to ensuring quality patient care. Escalate issue with high concerns to Director of Therapy and/or Senior Director of Post-Acute Services for support in solutions. Participates in internal chart reviews and external audit coordination as needed. Participates in hospital or departmental performance improvement activities and seeks opportunities to improve department and inter-department processes. Assists with other rehab functions as deemed necessary by Program Director. Provides an environment conducive to safety for patients, visitors and staff. Utilizes appropriate leadership skills in delegating, organizing and educating coworkers and staff. Promotes participation, cooperation and teamwork. Demonstrates problem solving in resolving issues. EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS Two or more years’ experience as a licensed clinician in an acute hospital or inpatient rehab setting. Two years’ experience in inpatient rehabilitation setting, preferred. Ability to operate basic computer and data management software. EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS OT, PT, SLP, RN, COTA/PTA + BS in health-related field required LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS State licensure as an RN, Occupational Therapist, Occupational Therapy Assistant, Physical Therapist, Physical Therapy Assistant, or Speech Language Pathologist. SKILLS AND ABILITIES Must be able to successfully complete Uniform Data System’s QI credentialing exam within 90 days of hire. WORK SHIFT: Days (United States of America) LCMC Health is a community.
