About The Role
Join a high-impact engagement supporting a Japan-based global and consumer products accounting team during a leadership transition. This is a unique opportunity to step into a heritage brand with impeccable history. You’ll work closely with a seasoned team and liaise with global headquarters to maintain stability and drive process improvements.

Project Overview
We are supporting a client’s accounting function through a secondment agreement to bridge the gap between the outgoing leader and a future permanent hire. The accounting department is operational and demands creative problem solving. The subject matter expert assigned to this project will oversee approvals, compliance, and reporting, while also improving documentation and supporting GL processes. Your involvement in the project will be carried out as an independent subcontractor.

Scope of Services
- Contribute to the finance and accounting department, supporting financial operations across multiple business units and divisions.
- Manage general ledger (GL) functions for assigned entities.
- Assist in establishing and maintaining internal controls to ensure compliance with organizational policies and regulations.
- Lead or actively contribute to project tasks and initiatives related to financial processes.
- Demonstrate foresight and initiative to ensure projects are successfully completed and effectively integrated into operations.
- Maintain and, where necessary, suggest improvements to current accounting procedures and documentation.
- Support the implementation of new internal controls as required by the organization.
- Share knowledge and best practices with team members to foster a collaborative and continuously improving work
Qualifications
- Fluent in Japanese and English.
- Strong experience in Japanese and US accounting and tax, especially focused on retails companies.
- Familiarity with multiple accounting systems and ability to adapt to new tool.
- Comfortable working in hybrid environments with limited documentation
- Strong stakeholder management and leadership in transitional settings
