About the Role
SonicWall is looking for a Test Engineer with strong experience in network security and firewall testing, along with hands-on automation skills, to support validation of SonicOS releases. In this role, you will work closely with Development, QA, and Release teams to ensure product quality through functional, system, and regression testing while driving automation-first testing practices. This position is ideal for engineers passionate about networking, cybersecurity products, and test automation.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform functional, system, regression, and verification testing for SonicOS features and releases.
- Design, develop, and maintain automation frameworks and automated test scripts.
- Convert manual regression test cases into automation to improve coverage and execution efficiency.
- Develop test plans, test scenarios, and detailed test cases aligned with product requirements.
- Validate bug fixes and perform end-to-end workflow testing.
- Analyze failures, support root cause analysis, and collaborate with developers for issue resolution.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, defect triage, and release sign-offs.
- Contribute to quality metrics, test reports, and defect escape analysis.
- Support and mentor junior QA engineers when required.

Networking & Firewall Domain
Strong fundamentals in networking concepts
TCP/IP, Routing, NAT, VLANs
Firewall policies and security concepts
Hands-on experience in firewall/security testing, such as
VPN (IPSec/SSL VPN)
DPI / Application Control
Intrusion Prevention System (IPS)
Gateway Anti-Virus
Geo-IP filtering
Automation & Programming
Experience with automation tools/frameworks
Playwright / Selenium / PyTest / Robot Framework
Programming or scripting experience in Python or JavaScript.
Systems & Debugging
- Strong working knowledge of Linux/Unix environments.
- Experience analyzing logs and packet captures using tcpdump and Wireshark.
- Experience with defect tracking tools (JIRA or equivalent).
- Exposure to CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, Git pipelines).
- Familiarity with AI-assisted tools for testing or productivity improvement.
Good to Have
- Experience setting up QA labs or networking test infrastructure.
- Exposure to cloud environments such as AWS or Azure.
- Experience reproducing customer issues or supporting field escalations.
Soft Skills
- Strong analytical and debugging skills.
- Ownership mindset with attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively in fast-paced Agile environments.
- Good communication and collaboration skills.
