About The Role

1 Scientist (f/m/d) in the Area of Numerical Modelling and Simulation of Electric and Hybrid Surface Vehicles * Together with our "Vehicle System Simulation" team, you will contribute to the development of new project ideas, project plans, strategic objectives and exploitation concepts.

  • You support the acquisition and execution of national and international research projects in the area of electrification of surface vehicles.
  • You independently manage projects and serve as the primary interface for renowned partners from the automotive industry and scientific institutions.
  • You contribute to strengthening the international scientific profile of our team through publication activities, such as peer-reviewed journal articles and book contributions, as well as participation in national and international conferences.
  • You create and perform simulations of varying complexity in the field of electric and hybrid vehicles.
  • You carry out the calibration and validation of simulation models on test benches and in vehicles.
  • You will apply and deepen your expertise in modelling, simulation, and system design, while actively contributing to the scientific work of our "Vehicle System Simulation" team in the field of clean mobility.
  • Working closely with industry partners, you will translate your solutions, methods, and concepts into practical applications, making a meaningful contribution to the advancement of future mobility technologies.

Your qualifications as an Ingenious Partner

  • PhD-level qualification in a relevant field, such as Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Computational Science / Computational Engineering or a related discipline. Alternatively, a MSc-level qualification with relevant professional experience may be accepted.
  • A traceable scientific publication record is an asset.
  • Proven experience in multiphysics modelling of automotive energy storage, electric drive systems, and/or high-fidelity aero/thermodynamic simulations. Relevant experience must be clearly outlined in the cover letter.
  • Programming skills in Python, MATLAB (including Simulink), C/C++, or similar languages are required. Understanding of 3D modelling methods (finite volume and/or finite element approaches) and experience with state-of-the-art industrial design and computational tools (e.g. ANSYS, Modelica, Dymola) are highly valued.
  • Experience in testing parts and components of e-drives is an advantage.
  • Experience in automotive/powertrain related projects is desirable, and/or European research programmes (e.g. Horizon Europe); Understanding of the European research ecosystem is an asset.
  • Willingness to travel, and high level of motivation to pursue a scientific or research-oriented career.
  • Commensurate with the activity skills in English, including proficiency in technical writing, are mandatory. Knowledge of German is desirable.

What to expect

  • The minimum gross annual salary on a full-time basis (38,5 h/week) according to the collective agreement is EUR 61.334,--. The actual salary will be determined individually, based on your qualifications and experience.
