About The Role
For our client, an international company specialized in the management, maintenance and rental of Ground Support Equipment (GSE) for the aviation industry, we are looking for a experienced motivated Welder / Mechanical Assembler.
As a Welder / Mechanical Assembler, you will be responsible for carrying out welding and metal fabrication work, as well as repairing mechanical components of non-motorized Ground Support Equipment (GSE). You will ensure that all work is performed safely, efficiently and in accordance with technical specifications and quality standards.
Your Responsibilities
- Perform welding work using MIG, TIG, stick (electrode) welding and other welding techniques on GSE equipment.
- Repair cracks, reinforce structures and manufacture custom metal components.
- Assemble and install mechanical parts and components.
- Install, adjust and maintain hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Read and interpret technical drawings and engineering plans.
- Carry out inspections and preventive maintenance on welded structures and mechanical components.
- Repair and maintain locks, locking mechanisms and other mechanical systems.
- Inspect completed work to ensure quality standards are met and provide technical support to colleagues when required.
- Properly use and maintain welding equipment, tools and workshop machinery.
- Comply with all health, safety and quality procedures.
- Record completed work, repairs and material usage accurately.
- Work closely with colleagues from the mechanical, electrical and workshop departments to ensure efficient maintenance and repair operations.
- You have at least 5 years of experience as a welder and/or mechanical assembler, preferably within the aviation, automotive or heavy industrial sector.
- You have a solid knowledge of MIG, TIG and stick (electrode) welding techniques.
- You have experience with metal fabrication, construction work and mechanical assembly.
- You can confidently read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
- You understand the properties of different materials and their behaviour during welding and repair work.
- You are accurate, quality-driven and committed to working safely.
- You are a reliable team player with a strong sense of responsibility.
- You have a good command of the English language.
- You hold a valid Category B driving licence.
- A forklift certificate is considered an advantage.
- You are willing to obtain an airport security badge and airport driving permit.
