Senior Occupational Therapist - Mt Sinai Hospital Outpt Wheelchair Clinic- M-F- Days

The Senior Occupational Therapist (O.T.) assesses, plans, organizes and participates in the rehabilitative program for developmentally, mentally, emotionally and physically disabled people. The primary function is to assist in restoring and improving the patient’s ability to live an independent and fulfilling lifestyle by teaching activities of daily living (ADL) and work skills. Mentors less experienced rehabilitation staff.

1.Plans,

organizes, and conducts occupational therapy programs to help rehabilitate

those impaired because of illness, injury or psychological or developmental

problems.

2.Tests

and evaluates patients' physical and mental abilities and analyze medical data

to determine realistic rehabilitation goals for patients.

3.Develops

and participates in health promotion programs, group activities, or discussions

to promote client health, facilitate social adjustment, alleviate stress, and

prevent physical or mental disability.

4.Consults

with rehabilitation team to select activity programs and coordinates

occupational therapy with other therapeutic activities (Physical Therapy,

Speech-Language Pathology, Therapeutic Recreation).

5.Plans,

implements and coordinates social activities and programs to help patients

learn work and school skills and adjust to handicaps.

6.Selects

constructive activities suited to individual's physical capacity, intelligence

level, and interest to upgrade individual to maximum independence, prepare individual

for return to employment, assists in restoration of functions, and aid in

adjustment to disability.

7.Evaluates

patients' progress and prepares reports that detail progress.

8.Completes

and maintains necessary records.

9.Trains

caregivers how to provide for the needs of a patient during and after therapy.

10.Recommends changes in

patients' work or living environments, consistent with their needs and

capabilities.

11.Teaches individuals skills

and techniques required for participation in activities and evaluates

individual's progress.

12.May conduct training

programs or participate in training medical and nursing students and

Occupational therapists in occupational therapy techniques and objectives.

13.May plan, direct, and

coordinate occupational therapy program as requested by Director.

14.Performs other related

duties.

3 years minimum experience in a hospital setting providing therapy to patients.

Compensation Statement

The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides salary ranges that comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $93,600.00 - $109,033.95 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and operational need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
