Sous Chef

The Telegraph Hotel is a vibrant, high-energy venue in the heart of Hobart, bringing together great food, drinks, entertainment and events under one roof. With a busy kitchen and a team that continues to grow, we’re looking for two experienced Sous Chefs to join our kitchen leadership team.

The Opportunity

Working closely with the Head Chef, you’ll play a key role in the day-to-day running of the kitchen and help drive a strong food offering across the venue.

You’ll be responsible for

• Leading and supporting the kitchen team during busy services
• Maintaining high standards of food quality, presentation and consistency
• Supporting menu development, specials and new food ideas
• Coaching and developing junior chefs
• Assisting with ordering, stock control and food cost management
• Ensuring high standards of food safety, cleanliness and compliance
• Keeping the kitchen organised, efficient and service-ready
• Supporting the Head Chef with the overall operation of the kitchen
• Creating a positive, respectful and high-performing kitchen culture

What We're Looking For

You'll be an experienced chef who is ready to take the next step in your career and make an impact within a busy kitchen.

You'll bring

• Previous Sous Chef or strong senior chef experience
• Experience leading a team in a busy, high-volume kitchen
• Strong culinary and technical cooking skills
• The ability to stay calm, organised and hands-on during busy services
• A genuine passion for food and delivering consistently high standards
• Strong leadership and communication skills
• A positive attitude and a willingness to lead by example
• A passion for coaching and developing your team
