About The Role

The Dredge Mechanic will be an integral part of our dredging operations, responsible for the maintenance and repair of various mechanical systems and equipment onboard the cutter suction dredger. This role requires a hands-on approach and a deep understanding of marine engineering principles. The Dredge Mechanic will work closely with the dredging crew to ensure the smooth operation of the vessel and its machinery.

  • Operate, monitor, and maintain main engines, auxiliary engines, pumps, compressors, and hydraulic systems on SPCSD.
  • Carry out routine inspections, planned maintenance, and breakdown repairs as per PMS and Chief Engineer’s instructions.
  • Assist in operation and maintenance of dredge pumps, cutter drive systems, gearboxes, and associated machinery.
  • Monitor machinery parameters, alarms, and log readings during dredging and sailing operations.
  • Perform overhauling of engines, valves, pumps, filters, and mechanical components as required.
  • Ensure proper lubrication, cooling, and fuel systems functioning at all times.
  • Maintain cleanliness and housekeeping of engine room and machinery spaces.
  • Follow safety procedures, permit-to-work systems, and company HSE policies.
  • Assist during bunkering, engine trials, and emergency situations.
  • Report defects, abnormalities, and spare requirements to the Engineer Officer promptly
  • Diploma in Mechanical.
  • 5-10 years' experience on Dredger.
  • STCW training certification.
  • STCW COP III/4 or higher is a must
  • ILO/MLC Seafarer's medical fitness certificate.
