Scope of Position
- This position is responsible for maintaining all aspects of the ammonia refrigeration system, boiler, compressed air
- maintenance tasks as needed. This position also is responsible for preventive maintenance and emergency repairs on all equipment as needed.
Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following; other duties as assigned
Maintain and complete work orders and preventive maintenance paperwork in a timely manner
Maintain a log book of all breakdowns and corrective actions taken
Schedule shutdowns of equipment and machinery for repairs and maintenance without disrupting production
Maintains, repairs, rebuilds and adjusts ammonia refrigeration, and equipment in areas of responsibility by analyzing, calibrating, replacing, repairing or rebuilding all equipment and machinery within established guidelines
Must be able to safely isolate and pump down any section of all systems.
Must be qualified to do routine maintenance on: Ammonia Compressors, Air Compressors, Boilers, Evaporator units, pumps, motors, etc….
Utilize time effectively to best minimize equipment downtime and repairs
Be safety-minded and follow lockout-tagout (LOTO) procedures for all equipment that is being worked on
Be a team player and not afraid to ask for guidance or help when needed
Be on call when needed and able to work alone if the situation calls for it
Receive and follow training on LOTO, fall protection, confined space, hot work, and any other training deemed necessary to perform the job safely and effectively
Order materials and parts as needed for stock or repairs of equipment
Maintain all engine rooms, compressor rooms and roof areas in a high state of cleanliness always.
Work with several outside vendors and technicians in a professional manner
Assist maintenance technicians with mechanical troubleshooting and repairs as needed or as directed by maintenance leadership
Follow/Implement OSHA 1910.119 PSM Standard PSM/RMP program
Reports directly to B&R Maintenance Manager

Capabilities/Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED and 2+ years of Maintenance, Maintenance Supervision or Process/Project Management experience required
- Must be a member of the Hazardous Materials Team(HAZMAT) and SCBA certified.
- At least two years in a refrigeration or boiler room preferred.
- Operator 1 and Operator 2 preferred.
- Strong working knowledge of industrial maintenance and electrical functions
- Able to learn and follow directions from management and team leaders
- Able to follow and implement safety rules
- Able to read and write in English
- Proficient with time and prioritizing work
- Able to use a computer for the functions of the engine room and email
Proficient with MS Word, Excel, and Outlook
Good planning and priority setting skills
Be Safety Minded
May be required to work long hours and weekends
Physical Demands/Work Environment
Frequently required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers to handle/feel items, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and talk or hear.
Office and plant setting: the plant environment will include wet or humid conditions (non-weather related), extreme cold (non-weather related), and working near moving mechanical parts
Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but can be loud when in the production area.
Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
