What is special about this role?Joining the Clinical Genomics team at Helix at this point in time will allow a genetic counselor to contribute to building new diagnostic tests and enabling population genomics screening. Helix is at the beginning of its diagnostics journey, and your voice will be indispensable in the growth and development of this endeavor. You'll also play a direct clinical role - writing reports, fielding provider inquiries, and serving as a knowledgeable point of contact for ordering clinicians navigating complex genomic results. As a Genomics Counselor, you will:Review current clinical guidelines and contribute to writing genetic testing reports as relevant to Helix’s hereditary cancer, hereditary cardiovascular disease, pharmacogenomics and/or population genomics presence.Estimate test sensitivity and specificity given design parametersWork closely with Helix development and QA teams and contribute to compliance, training, and production activities as neededDefine and create test reports suitable for clinician and patient consumptionRespond to provider clinical inquiries via phone and email, including questions about results, variant interpretation, Helix test menu, and more Act as a stakeholder for teams building tools for interpretation and reporting Actively participates in continuing education series including journal clubs, complex variant discussions/presentations, and conferences, as neededAbout you:Master's degree or higher in genetic counseling or human geneticsValid Genetic Counselor License or Temporary Genetic Counselor License issued by the State of CaliforniaMeets licensing requirements for the state of residence2+ years working as a genetic counselor, preferably in a clinical setting such as prenatal, adult genetics, or pediatric genetics Excellent communication skills, verbal and written Initiative-driven, self-motivated Collaborative, constructive cross-functional team memberBased in Pacific time zone Open to Contract Position Pluses:Direct patient experience Variant interpretation experience Experience with provider communication and clinical result disclosureExpected Interview Process:1) Recruiter Screen 2) Manager Screen/Tech Screen 3) Onsite 4) Offer Expected Pay For This Role:There are 3 distinct parts to your Helix offer: 1) Base Salary 2) Annual Bonus 3) Equity Expected Helix Base: $115,000 - $159,250Expected Helix Discretionary Annual Bonus: 10% of your annual salaryEquity: We offer generous equity at Helix.
