About The Role

Location: US Remote (ET hours) Role Type: Full-time | Exempt Reports To: Director of Merchandise Planning OverviewAlex and Ani is in an exciting phase of growth, operating with the pace and agility of a scaling business while leveraging the foundation of an established consumer brand. This role reports into the Director of Merchandise Planning and works closely with cross-functional partners across merchandising, supply chain, and web. The Merchandise Planner will support weekly business reporting, inventory and preorder tracking, Amazon allocation, and promotion management, while building deep, hands-on experience across a multi-channel business. We're looking for a planner who thrives with autonomy and sound judgment, confidently owning day-to-day execution across reporting, inventory tracking, promotional management, and allocation. Key Responsibilities Weekly Reporting & Business Analysis Prepare and distribute weekly business reporting, summarizing sales, inventory, and channel performance Analyze trends, seasonality, and performance drivers to support broader business decisions Partner with the Director of Merchandise Planning to surface risks and opportunities found in the data Inventory & Preorder Tracking Monitor inventory health across assigned channels, identifying and acting on stockout and excess risk Track preorder SKU’s, inventory and on order to execute changes with the site team for high demand products Partner with supply chain and operations teams on production, replenishment, and lead-time tracking Amazon Allocation Manage inventory allocation to Amazon, balancing availability against demand and lead times Promotion Management Help decide pricing and assortment selection alongside merch for seasonal promotions and regular markdowns Monitor in-flight promotions and report on performance against goals Hindsight Reporting & Ad Hoc Sales Analysis Prepare post-season/post-promotion hindsight reporting to inform future planning decisions Analyze historical sales, trends, and market dynamics to answer ad hoc business questions Identify and flag opportunities for process or reporting improvements Systems & Tools Use existing planning tools and reporting workflows to maintain accurate, up-to-date reporting Structure and reconcile data from multiple systems/exports into a clean, reliable source Stay curious about emerging AI-enabled planning and reporting tools, identifying manual processes worth automating Merchandising Support Support assortment planning such as sku productivity analysis and seasonal hindsight work as needed, partnering with the merchandising teamQualifications2–4+ years of experience in merchandise planning, demand planning, inventory management, business analysis, or a related analytical role, ideally within DTC ecomm, retail, fashion, accessories, lifestyle, jewelry, or consumer brands Experience in multi-channel environments (DTC, Amazon/marketplaces, and/or wholesale) preferred Advanced Excel skills — comfortable building and maintaining complex formulas (e.g., INDEX/MATCH, XLOOKUP, nested logic), pivot tables, and models, not just using them Solid working knowledge of inventory tracking, reporting, and promotional/markdown management processes Strong focus on execution with the ability to independently manage detailed, recurring analytical work in a fast-paced environmentComfortable operating with a high degree of autonomy and sound judgment Experience partnering with senior stakeholders (e.g., VP/SVP-level) a plus Familiarity with Looker or similar BI tools a plus
