Description

Integrated Mathematics I is the first course in a sequence of four courses that integrates big topics of mathematics. The process of moving through these integrated topics of mathematics enables teachers to deepen their own understanding of math, make connections between the different topics within math, and make connections to what they will teach in their own classrooms. The intention is to simultaneously deepen understanding of mathematics while reminding graduate students of what it feels like to have productive struggle in a math class. This fi rst integrated math course investigates the different ways to prove a conjecture, provides an introduction to group theory and number theory, and explores the connection between algorithms and computer science.

Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver course content and materials aligned with the program curriculum.
• Grade and evaluate student performance in a timely manner, providing constructive feedback.
• Maintain open communication with students, including scheduled office hours or availability for consultation.
• Submit final grades and required course documentation (e.g., attendance records) by institutional deadlines.
• Collaborate with program faculty on course coordination and attend relevant program meetings, if necessary.

Qualifications

• ● Master’s degree in education, or related fi eld, required.
• ● 5 or more years of teaching adolescents in math curricular areas, preferred.
• ● Experience in public schools, preferred.
• ● Critical orientation to issues of access and equity, preferred.
• ● Strong skills in communication, collaboration, and organization, preferred.
• ● Experience teaching at the graduate level, preferred.
