About The Role
As a Perioperative Nurse at AtlantiCare Surgery Center, you will be an integral part of the surgical team, ensuring a smooth and efficient patient journey. Your role will involve providing exceptional care and support to patients and their families across all three phases of surgery: pre-op, intra-op, and post-op. You will work closely with physicians, ensuring they have the necessary equipment and supplies, and contribute to a positive and collaborative work environment.
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients undergoing surgical procedures, ensuring their comfort and well-being.
- Collaborate with the surgical team to prepare patients for surgery, including pre-operative assessments and education.
- Assist in the operating room as needed, ensuring a sterile environment and providing support to the surgical team.
- Monitor patients' vital signs and administer medications as prescribed, ensuring their safety and recovery.
- Manage patient flow and prioritize cases, ensuring efficient utilization of surgical resources.
- Communicate effectively with patients and their families, providing updates and addressing any concerns.
- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation, adhering to hospital policies and procedures.
- Participate in performance improvement initiatives, contributing to the continuous enhancement of patient care.
- Foster a positive and supportive work environment, promoting teamwork and collaboration.
- Ensure compliance with infection control protocols and maintain a safe and clean surgical environment.
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; Bachelor's in nursing preferred.
- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of New Jersey is required.
- BLS certification is mandatory upon hire or transfer, with ACLS and PALS certifications required for specific specialties.
- Prior experience in an Ambulatory Surgery Center is preferred but not mandatory.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to adapt to changing schedules are essential.
- Proficiency in Clinical Applications is preferred, with training provided for incumbents.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, busy environment with frequent interruptions and a high level of noise.
- Physical requirements include standing for extended periods, occasional lifting up to 20 pounds, and quick walking.
- Commitment to providing quality customer service and a patient-centric approach.
- Willingness to participate in performance improvement efforts and continuous learning.
