About The Role

The Registered Nurse Preop/PACU role is integral to the surgical team, offering comprehensive care and support to patients and their families. You will be responsible for ensuring a seamless surgical experience, from pre-op preparation to post-anesthesia care. This role demands a high level of clinical expertise, exceptional communication skills, and the ability to adapt to a dynamic and often busy healthcare setting.

  • Provide exceptional patient care and family support throughout all surgical phases.
  • Assist physicians with equipment, supplies, and support in Pre-Op and PACU areas.
  • Promote organizational goals through quality customer service and performance improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain a safe and comfortable environment for patients, ensuring their well-being and privacy.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure smooth and efficient surgical procedures.
  • Monitor and assess patient conditions, administering medications as needed.
  • Educate patients and their families on pre- and post-operative care, ensuring understanding and compliance.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care and treatment.
  • Ensure a clean and well-organized work environment, adhering to infection control protocols.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development to stay updated with the latest nursing practices.
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; Bachelor's in nursing preferred.
  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of New Jersey is mandatory.
  • BLS certification is required upon hire or transfer.
  • ACLS and PALS certifications are necessary, as designated by specialty.
  • Prior experience in an Ambulatory Surgery Center is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Proficiency in Clinical Applications is an advantage; training will be provided for this skill.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and adapt to schedule changes is essential.
  • Physical requirements include standing for extended periods, occasional lifting, and quick walking.
  • A commitment to teamwork, cooperation, and quality patient care is expected.
  • Must be willing to work in a busy, noisy environment with frequent interruptions.
