The WBG Prosperity Vice Presidency is responsible for getting the right public and private sector solutions to our operational teams and to our clients, and to produce scalable impact. It leads the WBG’s key global engagements in support of: Growth and jobs (including supporting teams across the WBG on the jobs agenda); debt sustainability and debt management; improved domestic resource mobilization and expenditure efficiency; a resilient and inclusive financial sector; business-enabling policies and regulations; trade policy and facilitation; and transparent, effective, and accountable government institutions world-wide. The Vice Presidency also houses the group that examines the distributional/poverty impacts of all policies. Its mandate is to deliver knowledge for impact to enable and support the WBG to achieve its goals in support of our mission and specifically: providing guidance on creating more and better jobs; supporting foundational infrastructure and human capital, a business-enabling policy environment, and private sector mobilization; focusing on agribusiness, healthcare, infrastructure, manufacturing, and tourism; and support and accelerate corporate targets and commitments. The VPU’s objectives in driving outcomes include replicating and scaling effective solutions, enhancing thought leadership and innovation, and delivering timely knowledge to client teams in the areas of its mandate. Financial Services Sector II Department: Prosperity VPU’s Financial Services Sector is comprised of two directorates: FSS I and FSS II. FSS II covers several areas including Banking, Insurance, Housing, SME and Sustainability Finance. The FSS II Global Department is recruiting an [Associate] Investment Officer (A/IO) to work across the Department. Investment Officer, Financial Services Solutions Impact: The position will report to the Manager, Sustainability Finance and Cross Cutting Solutions Duties and Accountabilities The [Associate] Investment Officer will be responsible for the following functions. • The A/IO will work closely with colleagues in HQ and across regions across a multi-disciplinary team on a variety of responsibilities including business development, transactions, portfolio supervision, strategy and analytics, and client relationship management. The responsibilities include but are not limited to: • Support business development by identifying potential investment partners and opportunities based on industry experience, reputation, market potential, financial capability, and strategic fit. • Assess the attractiveness of specific investment opportunities with a strong focus on credit quality and development impact, as a part of the team, and make recommendations to management. • Support the execution of various product solutions led by FIG’s regional industry teams, including processing mandates, conduct due diligence, structuring deals, negotiate terms and documentation, arrange syndications, and process internal approvals. • Work closely across departments in the VPU to support the development and implementation of relevant sector strategies (including country strategies, SCDs, CPSDs, etc). • Work closely with IFC’s specialists to manage environmental, social, technical, legal, insurance, corporate governance, and other risks in projects and champion IFC’s sustainability offerings to clients. • Handle portfolio management of assigned projects, as applicable, in a timely manner. • Work with FIG regional industry colleagues to provide high quality client service throughout the project cycle from transaction sourcing, execution to supervision.
