Mineral Resources Manager ROLE PROFILE GENERAL Date December 2025 Location Aggeneys, Northern Cape Operations (Please indicate the operation – by ticking the appropriate box) GB BMM ✓ Job Grade E1 (Paterson) / M3 (Vedanta) ROLE CONTEXT Vedanta Zinc International (VZI) operates two technically diverse and complex mining operations: · Gamsberg – a large, modern zinc open ‑ pit operation requiring advanced pit optimisation, large ‑ scale drill and blast integration, geotechnical design and short ‑ to long ‑ term planning. · Black Mountain Mine (BMM) – a multi ‑ shaft underground (Deeps & Swartberg) and open ‑ pit (Swartberg) operation requiring advanced underground mine design, geotechnical engineering, stope optimisation, rock ‑ engineering controls and intricate geological understanding. Both operations rely on a highly skilled Technical Services Department (TSD) to ensure informed planning, safe mine design, accurate resource evaluation, compliant survey practices and strong technical governance. The Mineral Resources Manager (E1) leads the entire TSD function at the assigned site, providing technical leadership across Mine Planning, Geology, Survey and Rock Engineering. This role is the custodian of the mineral inventory, mine design integrity, spatial accuracy and technical assurance framework that underpin safe and efficient mining. PURPOSE OF THE ROLE To lead and manage the Technical Services Department to ensure accurate, reliable and compliant technical information, mine designs, resource models and operational support that enable safe, efficient and optimised mining operations. The role ensures: · Strategic management of resources, reserves and mine designs · Technical excellence in geology, planning, surveying and rock engineering · Strong governance over all TSD standards, procedures and modelling · Compliance with MHSA, SAMREC/JORC and VZI technical governance · Robust life ‑ of ‑ mine, medium ‑ term and short ‑ term planning · Full technical support to Operations, Projects and Business Planning RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Technical Leadership & Departmental Management · Lead Mine Planning, Geology, Survey and Rock Engineering functions. · Develop TSD strategy aligned to corporate and operational goals. · Ensure staffing, technical capability and succession planning within TSD. · Drive a culture of technical excellence, accountability and continuous improvement. 2. Mineral Resource, Reserve & Geological Governance · Oversee geological modelling, resource estimation and reserve conversion. · Ensure compliance with SAMREC / JORC and internal reporting standards. · Manage QA/QC programs, drilling governance and geological data integrity. · Validate annual mineral resource and reserve statements. 3. Mine Planning & Design Oversight · Lead long ‑ , medium ‑ and short ‑ term mine planning processes. · Ensure mine designs incorporate geotechnical, geological and operational constraints. · Oversee pit optimisation, stope design, sequencing, scheduling and production forecasting. · Ensure plans support safety, cost efficiency and business ‑ planning cycles. 4. Survey & Spatial Control Governance · Oversee survey compliance with MHSA and technical standards. · Ensure accurate measurement of excavations, tonnes, development metres and boundaries. · Maintain spatial accuracy, mine plan updates and survey information systems. 5. Geotechnical & Rock Engineering Management · Oversee ground ‑ control strategies, geotechnical modelling and risk management. · Review and approve geotechnical designs and support plans. · Ensure compliance with rock ‑ engineering statutory requirements. · Monitor geotechnical hazards and implement control measures. 6. Technical Governance, Standards & Assurance · Ensure technical systems, models and data are audit ‑ ready and compliant. · Lead technical audits, design reviews and modelling validations. · Implement corporate and site ‑ specific technical standards. · Identify and manage technical risks in planning and execution. 7. Cross ‑ Functional Integration & Value Chain Support · Collaborate with Mining, Plant, Engineering, PMO, and Business Partners to ensure alignment. · Provide technical support for operational planning, budgeting and improvement initiatives. · Drive mine ‑ to ‑ mill optimisation, reconciliation governance and financial assurance of the plan. 8. Technical Reporting & Strategic Decision Support · Prepare technical performance reports, risk summaries and improvement recommendations. · Present technical findings and strategic insights to the GM and EXCO. · Provide guidance on orebody potential, extraction sequencing and resource optimisation. 9. Safety, Legal Compliance & Risk Management · Ensure all TSD activities adhere to MHSA, Zero Harm and geotechnical safety requirements. · Conduct VFLs, field walk ‑ downs, PTOs and technical risk assessments (IBRA/HIRA). · Support incident investigations and ensure implementation of corrective actions. · Promote safe mine designs, excavation sequencing and ground ‑ control practices. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS Qualifications · BSc / BEng in Mining Engineering, Geology, Geotechnical Engineering or related discipline. · Postgraduate qualification in Mineral Resource Management or Geostatistics advantageous. · Professional registration (ECSA, SACNASP, SAGC) preferred. Experience · 10+ years in Mining Technical Services, mine planning, geology, or geotechnical fields. · Minimum 5 years in a senior technical leadership or TSD management role. · Experience in both open ‑ pit and/or underground environments beneficial. · Strong track record in resource/reserve governance, mine design and technical risk management. Technical Competence · Expert knowledge of resource modelling, geostatistics and QA/QC. · Strong mine planning, optimisation and scheduling capability. · Proficiency in mine ‑ planning and geological modelling software (Deswik, Vulcan, Datamine etc.). · Excellent understanding of survey principles, geotechnical analysis and spatial data systems. · Strong analytical and problem ‑ solving capability with technical depth.
