GENERAL Date December 2025 Location Aggeneys, Northern Cape Operations (Please indicate the operation – by ticking the appropriate box) GB BMM Job Grade C4 (Paterson) / M8 (Vedanta) ROLE CONTEXT Vedanta Zinc International (VZI) operates two major mining complexes in the Northern Cape: · Gamsberg – a large-scale open ‑ pit zinc operation requiring high ‑ precision drill & blast execution to achieve fragmentation, slope stability and production targets. · Black Mountain Mine (BMM) – an underground operation where drill & blast quality directly influences development advance, stope performance, dilution control and safety. The Maintenance Planner (C4) plays a critical role in ensuring that maintenance activities are effectively planned, scheduled, and coordinated to maximize equipment reliability, plant availability, and operational efficiency. The role serves as the link between Operations, Maintenance, Supply Chain, and Engineering by ensuring all maintenance work is properly defined, resourced, and scheduled before execution. PURPOSE OF THE ROLE To develop, coordinate, and maintain effective maintenance plans and schedules that ensure maintenance activities are executed safely, efficiently, and cost-effectively, thereby maximizing equipment reliability, plant availability, and operational performance. RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Maintenance Planning Develop detailed maintenance work plans for preventive, predictive, corrective, and shutdown maintenance activities. Define job scope, resource requirements, labour hours, tools, equipment, and materials required for maintenance work. Review work requests and convert approved requests into executable work orders. Develop standard job plans for recurring maintenance activities. Ensure maintenance plans comply with safety, quality, and operational requirements. 2. Maintenance Scheduling Prepare weekly and monthly maintenance schedules in consultation with Operations and Maintenance teams. Coordinate planned equipment shutdowns and maintenance windows. Prioritize maintenance activities based on criticality, risk, and business requirements. Balance maintenance workloads to optimize resource utilization. Monitor schedule compliance and address deviations. 3. Work Management Maintain and update work orders within the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS). Track work order progress from creation to completion. Ensure all work orders contain accurate task descriptions and resource requirements. Review completed work and close work orders appropriately. 4. Resource and Materials Planning Identify required spare parts, materials, consumables, and contractor requirements. Coordinate with procurement and stores to ensure material availability before scheduled work. Monitor critical spares and maintenance inventory requirements. Support budget planning by estimating labour and material costs. 5. Equipment Reliability Support Work closely with reliability engineers and maintenance teams to improve equipment performance. Analyse maintenance history and equipment failure trends. Assist in developing preventive and predictive maintenance strategies. Recommend improvements that enhance equipment reliability and reduce downtime. 6. Shutdown and Project Planning Develop detailed plans for major shutdowns and outages. Coordinate resources, contractors, materials, and equipment required for shutdown execution. Support capital projects requiring maintenance involvement. Participate in post-shutdown reviews and lessons learned activities. 7. Reporting and Documentation Generate maintenance planning reports and performance metrics. Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation. Track maintenance backlogs and identify improvement opportunities. Provide planning and scheduling updates to management and stakeholders. 8. Safety, Health, Environment and Quality Ensure maintenance activities are planned in accordance with safety standards and procedures. Incorporate risk assessments and permit requirements into maintenance plans. Promote compliance with company policies and legal requirements. Support continuous improvement in safety performance. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS Qualifications · Grade 12 (Matric). · National Diploma in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or related field) or equivalent technical qualification. · Formal maintenance planning training. · Proficiency in CMMS systems (e.g., SAP PM, Pragma, Maximo, Oracle). Experience · 3-5 years' experience in maintenance, engineering, or technical operations. · Experience in maintenance planning and scheduling. · Experience using CMMS software. · Knowledge of industrial plant equipment and maintenance processes.
