About The Role

This Research Coach position will support a cohort of 10 undergraduate Research Assistants as part of the Collaborative Mentorship USRA pilot program, a collaboration between the uRSAW program and the DARE program for new faculty. The cohort of undergraduate Research Assistants will support new faculty as they establish and advance their research program in their first year at USask while jointly developing a summer research project. This collaborative research design process will support an application to the 2027 NSERC USRA competition (for each pair of faculty and undergraduate student). In consultation with the uRSAW Coordinator, the Research Coach provides mentorship and support for the cohort of undergraduate Research Assistants, creating a community learning environment, meeting regularly with students, and facilitating skill-building workshops. In the appointment of Student Assistant, your general duties and responsibilities will be: Schedule and facilitate regular meetings with the Research Assistant cohort, design and deliver skills-building workshops, manage a community learning environment in Canvas, and create peer-connection opportunities for students and faculty. Coach the undergraduate Research Assistant cohort on how to put together a research project design. Collaborate with the RASI team on scheduling and coordination of resources for sharing with program participants. Communicate with a cohort of 10 students and faculty to help maintain a mentored community learning environment. Interact with students, which may include direct one-on-one, group instruction (at least 5 in person workshops), online, coaching, referral, meetings or other (email, Canvas, or other) within the allotted time. Monitor and update the Collaborative Mentorship USRA canvas course as the main communication channel for the cohort. Your general location of work will be the University of Saskatchewan and you will report to Jordan Epp. Required Number of Hours : up to 66 hours for the term of employment Duration of Employment : September 16, 2026 – April 30, 2026 Qualifications (Skills and Abilities) Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Coordination with multiple audiences. Coaching, teaching and facilitation skills. Experience developing research proposals and research funding applications. Experience with Canvas learning management system is considered an asset. Familiarity with SaP model (Student as Partner) is considered an asset. You must be registered in a graduate program.
