About The Role

Primary Purpose The Contract Support Specialist provides administrative support and coordination for clinical trial contracts managed by the CTSU. The role supports the review, tracking, and movement of contracts, while maintaining key relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners. This position is focused on ensuring contracts are processed efficiently and that liaison functions between partners and the CTSU remain effective. Nature of Work As a member of the CTSU Contracts team, the Contract Support Specialist reports directly to the Contract Specialist. The role requires the ability to work independently and collaboratively, manage competing priorities, and exercise sound judgment in communication with internal stakeholders and external partners such as the Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) and Saskatchewan Cancer Agency (SCA). Accountabilities Lead and facilitate the clinical trial contract review and administration process with internal and external researchers, administrators, industry sponsors, and other stakeholders to ensure contracts progress efficiently and effectively. Manage the end-to-end tracking and oversight of clinical trial contracts , including maintaining contract databases, monitoring negotiation timelines, ensuring documentation is complete and current, preparing performance reports, and coordinating required follow-up activities. Serve as the primary point of contact and relationship manager for external partners (e.g., industry sponsors, Saskatchewan Health Authority [SHA], Saskatchewan Cancer Agency [SCA]), internal campus offices (e.g., Research Ethics Board, Finance), and CTSU teams to support effective communication and contract progression. Responsible for contract activities within the University Research System (UniVRS) , including project review, document and approval management, fund opening and closure, amendments, and other duties as required. Develop, implement, and oversee contract administration processes for clinical trials within the CTSU, ensuring portfolio activities are proactively managed, deadlines are met, and contractual obligations are fulfilled. Work closely alongside legal counsel to enable rapid start-up of industry sponsored and investigator-initiated clinical trials including but not limited to the development of master template agreements, serve on pan-Canadian committees for contract negotiations. and first review of incoming legal agreements. Provide operational support to Legal Counsel and the Operations team by coordinating contract-related activities, supporting the implementation of legal guidance, and assisting with contractual and procedural matters. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in life sciences or a related field would be an asset. 1–3 years of experience in a legal, healthcare, or medical research setting preferred. Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Superior communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to exercise tact and diplomacy. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as collaboratively in a team environment. Proven ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and strong internet research skills. Skills Exceptional organizational and time management skills. Demonstrated aptitude for teamwork and collaborative problem-solving. Sound judgment, discretion, and professional integrity. Strong attention to detail with the ability to anticipate and resolve issues proactively.
