About The Role
The laboratory of Dr. Yuwei Jiang in the Department of Physiology and Biophysics at the University of Illinois Chicago has an immediate opening for a Visiting Research Scientist to support research in adipose tissue biology, obesity, diabetes, and aging. The successful candidate will lead and support studies of adipose progenitor cell biology, beige and brown adipogenesis, metabolic phenotyping, mitochondrial function, and epigenetic regulation of adipose tissue function. Job Responsibilities Design, execute, analyze, and troubleshoot experiments suitable for peer-reviewed publication and grant reporting. Conduct studies involving inducible genetic mouse models, adipose lineage tracing, tissue collection, cold exposure, dietary challenge, glucose and insulin tolerance testing, and in vivo metabolic phenotyping. Perform qPCR, immunoblotting, immunofluorescence, histology, adipocyte differentiation, mitochondrial assays, CUT RUN/epigenomics, transcriptomics, and bioinformatic analysis. Analyze data, prepare figures, maintain research records, and report findings to the PI and research team. Train students, fellows, and junior laboratory personnel in adipose biology, metabolism, mouse genetics, epigenomics, and data analysis.
