About the Role
We are seeking a
Senior FDIR-FSW Systems Engineer
to support the design, analysis, and verification of Fault Detection, Isolation, and Recovery (FDIR) systems for advanced LEO and MEO satellite programs. In this role, you will work closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams to develop robust fault management strategies, analyze satellite systems and subsystems, and ensure flight software reliability through verification, validation, and testing. The ideal candidate has extensive experience with satellite flight software, systems engineering, and FDIR methodologies within mission-critical aerospace environments.
Key Responsibilities
Design and analyze
Fault Detection, Isolation, and Recovery (FDIR)
- strategies for satellite systems.
- Perform systems engineering analysis for satellite platforms and subsystems.
- Conduct failure analysis using
FMECA
and
Fault Tree Analysis (FTA)
- methodologies.
- Evaluate how failures propagate across system and subsystem levels.
- Develop fault management strategies by tracing failures from system-level to unit-level components.
- Support the design, verification, validation, and testing of satellite flight software (FSW) for FDIR.
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to ensure system reliability and mission success.
- Contribute to system integration, testing, and operational readiness activities.
- Apply industry standards and best practices for FDIR development and verification.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in
Electrical Engineering, Computer Science
- , or a related engineering discipline.
- 10+ years
- of relevant engineering experience (advanced degrees may be considered in lieu of some experience).
- Experience supporting
- LEO and/or MEO satellite systems
- .
- Strong cross-functional collaboration and systems engineering experience.
- Experience analyzing satellite systems and subsystems.
Familiarity with
Failure Modes, Effects, and Criticality Analysis (FMECA)
and/or
Fault Tree Analysis (FTA)
- .
- Strong understanding of failure propagation across complex systems.
- Ability to decompose system-level failures to the unit level and evaluate their overall system impact.
- Knowledge of satellite
Flight Software (FSW)
- and FDIR monitoring concepts.
- Experience testing hardware and software components supporting FDIR functionality.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with
ECSS-E-ST-70-41C
standards.
Experience with
PUS-based FDIR
- verification, validation, and testing.
- Experience supporting satellite flight software development and mission assurance.
- Familiarity with ESA standards and aerospace systems engineering best practices.
