Position Overview The Tax Officer – Business tax will be r esponsible for preparing and filing federal and multi-state business tax returns, performing tax research, and managing client accounts while ensuring compliance with applicable tax laws. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Tax Preparation & Compliance Prepare business tax returns (Forms 1120, 1120S, 1065) for corporations, S-corps, and partnerships. Handle multi-state tax returns, ensuring accurate allocation and apportionment. Perform M-1 adjustments and reconcile book-to-tax differences. Input Partnership K-1 data and calculate basis adjustments. Ensure timely and accurate submission of tax returns to federal and state authorities. Tax Research & Technical Analysis Conduct tax technical research on complex issues, including state-specific regulations and federal compliance. Stay updated on changes in tax laws and regulations impacting business entities. Client Communication & Account Management Communicate with clients to gather necessary financial data and resolve queries. Respond to notices and correspondence from tax authorities on behalf of clients. Manage multiple client accounts, ensuring deadlines and quality standards are met. Documentation & Reporting Maintain accurate work papers and documentation supporting tax filings. Prepare summaries and reports for internal review and client presentation. Technology & Tools Proficient in MS Excel for data analysis, reconciliation, and reporting. Familiarity with tax preparation software (e.g., CCH Axcess, Drake, Pro series, Ultra tax, Pro-connect, GoSystem RS, CCH Engagement, Caseware ). Proven client management, team leadership, and business strategy experience. Hands-on with major US accounting and payroll platforms. Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
