About The Role

Assistant Manager / Manager, Supply

Location: Bangalore, India

Experience: 2+ Years

Job Overview

The Supply Manager will own and drive the end-to-end supply chain strategy for the agrochemicals business — from strategic sourcing and supplier development to cost optimization, multi-location inventory planning, and cross-functional coordination. This role demands deep operational command, the ability to manage a growing supplier ecosystem at scale, and accountability for supply continuity, cost targets, and quality benchmarks across the entire procurement lifecycle.

Requirements

  • ● 2–5 years of experience in Supply Chain, or Operations within manufacturing, chemicals, or adjacent industries or b2b commerce startups in India.
  • ● Proven track record of managing a supplier base across raw materials— including contract negotiation and long-term supplier development.
  • ● Strong experience in strategic sourcing: vendor identification, techno-commercial evaluation, rate benchmarking, and alternate supplier development.
  • ● Hands-on experience with ERP systems for PO management, GRN, stock tracking, and MIS generation. Advanced proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets.
  • ● Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills — comfortable engaging with cross-functional teams.
  • ● High ownership, bias for action, and comfort operating in ambiguous, fast-paced startup environments.
  • ● Open to travel frequently within India, and at times outside India as well

Roles and Responsibilities

  1. Strategic Sourcing & Supplier Management — Identify, evaluate, and onboard suppliers through techno-commercial assessments and audits. Build an alternate supplier pipeline for critical inputs, maintain supplier scorecards, and conduct quarterly business reviews on quality, delivery, and responsiveness.
  2. Negotiation & Cost Optimization — Drive annual rate contracts, volume-based pricing negotiations, and payment term optimization across the supplier base. Ensure strict adherence to cost budgets while maintaining material quality and supply continuity.
  3. End-to-End Procurement Operations — Own the full procurement cycle (indent to GRN to invoice reconciliation) across 20+ SKUs, multiple product lines, and locations. Align procurement planning with production schedules, sales forecasts, and seasonal demand cycles to ensure zero production downtime.
  4. Inventory Planning & Multi-Location Control — Design and enforce inventory policies (reorder levels, safety stock, min-max thresholds) across 3+ warehouse/plant locations. Drive 98%+ inventory accuracy, reduce dead/slow-moving stock, and improve inventory turns quarter-on-quarter.
  5. Quality Compliance & Documentation — Enforce incoming quality inspection protocols, track supplier rejection rates, and drive corrective actions. Ensure all materials meet agrochemical regulations and maintain audit-ready documentation (COA, MSDS, batch records).
  6. Cross-Functional Coordination & New Product Support — Act as the single point of contact for supply-side alignment across Production, Sales, Finance, QC, and R&D. Support new product introductions by managing trial material procurement and ensuring supply readiness for launches.
