MATCHBOOK LEARNING Wendell Phillips School 63 | Indianapolis, Indiana Special Education Teacher K–8 | Special Education Team Full-Time | Salary Range: $51,500.00 - $75,000.00 | Reports to: SPED Coordinator Position Summary Matchbook Learning is looking for a dedicated K–8 Special Education Teacher to join our Special Education Team at Wendell Phillips School 63. In this role, you'll partner closely with students with disabilities, their families, and general education staff to make sure every learner gets the support and services they need to thrive — inside a small, mission-driven school where you'll know every student by name. Key Responsibilities Special Education Instruction & Case Management Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in accordance with state and federal regulations Deliver specially designed instruction in both inclusion and pull-out settings Collaborate with general education teachers to support students in accessing the general curriculum Participate in case conferences, student support meetings, and MTSS processes Maintain accurate and timely documentation of student progress, services provided, and parent communication Conduct regular assessments and use data to inform instruction and goal-setting Create a supportive, inclusive, and structured classroom environment Communicate regularly with parents, service providers, and other stakeholders Ensure compliance with IDEA, Section 504, and all IDOE special education requirements Participate in professional development and school-wide initiatives Qualifications Required An entrepreneurial heart and mindset — serving in a turnaround school takes both the courage to take on a challenge with massive potential and the humility to try, fail, and try again Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field Valid Indiana Teaching License with Special Education certification (or eligible out-of-state equivalent) Ability to stay flexible in a fast-paced, changing environment Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills Commitment to inclusive practices and differentiated instruction Preferred At least two years of teaching experience in an urban or low-income setting A demonstrated record of classroom success (lead-teacher experience preferred; strong student teaching or assistant experience considered) Demonstrated ability to analyze student data to guide instruction Familiarity with IEP writing systems and online platforms (e.g., IIEP) Knowledge of behavioral support strategies and trauma-informed practices What We Offer ✓ Salary: $51,500–$83,000, based on experience and qualifications. ✓ PGP credits for license renewal ✓ 5% 401(k) match — dollar for dollar, vested at 90 days ✓ 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM school day ✓ Health, dental & dental insurance, including a health plan option with a $0 employee premium. ✓ Thanksgiving week fully off ✓ Tuition reimbursement — up to $2,500 per semester ✓ Fall, winter, spring & summer breaks ✓ 10 PTO days (prorated if mid-year start) ✓ Robust ongoing professional development ✓ $1,500 perfect attendance bonus ✓ Transition-to-teaching program support Matchbook Learning Special Education Team Apply at <matchbooklearning.com/careers> | Questions? <[email hidden]> | 317.226.4263 Matchbook Learning | Wendell Phillips School 63 | Indianapolis, Indiana Matchbook Learning is an Equal Opportunity Employer committed to fostering a diverse, inclusive, and welcoming workplace for all staff and students.
