About The Role
Location: Onsite – Juárez, Nuevo León, México Opportunity BASIC FUNCTION Under the supervision of the General Supvr - Slip Glaze, Monterrey Plant III, this position is responsible for providing manufacturing engineering ownership for ceramic materials and shop-floor processes, including raw-material variability, slip and glaze preparation, casting, drying and firing performance. The role exercises daily process control, data-driven decision-making, inventory governance for raw materials, slip and glaze, and implementation of standard work and engineering controls to stabilize performance, improve yield, reduce quality deviations, scrap and rework, and support cost-efficient, preventive operations. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Provide manufacturing engineering support for daily production, process control, quality performance, cost reduction and delivery commitments in Slip Glaze and related ceramic manufacturing processes. 2. Own shop-floor process stability through daily monitoring of critical parameters such as viscosity, specific gravity, CRP, gel, % transmittance and other rheological or material conditions affecting slip, glaze and slurry performance. 3. Lead formula changes, rheological adjustments and process recommendations for slip, glaze and slurries based on material behavior, production data, quality trends and engineering analysis. 4. Manage and control raw material, slip, glaze and slurry inventories, including programming, consumption control, batch adherence and operational decisions related to railcar unloading and material availability. 5. Drive corrective and preventive actions to reduce crack rate, green-phase quality issues, scrap, rework and other process-related deviations impacting Plant 3 yield and cost performance. 6. Develop, implement and sustain standard work, process specifications, engineering controls and reaction plans to shift operations from reactive troubleshooting to preventive process management. 7. Analyze production, laboratory and quality data to identify trends, risks and opportunities; recommend technical actions and validate effectiveness through measurable KPI improvement. Support and strengthen the Kohler Operating System (KOS), Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement practices through disciplined process control, root cause analysis and problem-solving routines. 9. Provide technical guidance to supervisors, operators, laboratory personnel and less experienced engineers to ensure consistent execution of process standards and troubleshooting practices. 10. Transfer and institutionalize critical technical ownership from single supervisory dependency to the manufacturing engineering function, ensuring process continuity, succession planning and protection of Plant 3 performance.
