About The Role
Job Title: Quality Technician C Job Code: 41103 Job Location: Palm Bay, FL Job Description: Quality Technician (Receiving Inspection) will inspect incoming hardware in accordance with applicable specifications/drawing requirements, perform inspections/tests/audits of purchased parts and materials at receipt, and review Supplier documentation. The Technician will identify and document non‑conformances, maintain support documentation, perform sampling/testing of incoming components, raw materials, and build‑of‑assemblies, and review/report performance data. The technician utilizes measurement gauges, inspection instruments, and microscopes to perform inspections. Works under limited supervision as a fully proficient individual contributor; assignments are moderately difficult and require sound judgment. May interface with supplier and customer quality representatives to obtain/provide information and reach agreement on quality issues. Works autonomously and may act as a mentor to lower‑level peers, providing guidance on tasks. Essential Functions: Perform mechanical and electrical hardware inspection on incoming material in Receiving, including sampling and testing of components, raw materials, and assemblies. Perform inspections, tests, and/or audits of purchased parts, units, and materials; maintain accurate support documentation and inspection records. Verification of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) against engineering drawings and inspection instructions. Utilize measurement devices/tools such as calipers, height gauges (electronic and mechanical), optical comparators, micrometers, scales, and dimensional measurement systems. Utilize surface plates, precision measuring tools, gauge blocks, and other mechanical inspection tools/tooling. Access drawings, specifications, and inspection instructions; document and disposition non‑conformances per procedure. Visual inspections of hardware using microscopes and magnifying lenses; photograph discrepancies to support nonconformance reports (NCRs). Review Supplier documentation for adherence to Quality Clauses and Drawing Notes; initiate nonconformance reports describing and photographing discrepancies. Review and report inspection/performance data; make recommendations for solutions and use knowledge/experience to resolve issues. Communicate within and outside the department (e.g., suppliers and customer quality representatives) to obtain/provide information, clarify requirements, and drive agreement on quality findings. Qualifications: Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 6 years of prior relevant experience or 2 years post‑secondary/Associate’s degree with a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. Fully proficient job knowledge/skills; works under limited supervision and may serve as a resource to other employees in areas of expertise. Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T). Experience in mechanical/electrical inspections utilizing inspection tools (calipers, micrometers, surface plate, electronic and mechanical height gauges, optical comparator). Demonstrated ability to maintain support documentation and complete inspections/tests/audits in Receiving. Preferred Additional Skills: Certified to IPC‑A‑600. Certified to IPC‑A‑610. Certified to IPC/WHMA‑A‑620. Preferred experience: PWB inspection; electrical part inspection; mechanical part inspection/GD&T inspection. Experience running a Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM). Experience using an X‑ray fluorescence (XRF) instrument. Experience using Keyence measurement equipment. Experience interfacing with supplier and/or customer quality representatives and reporting performance/inspection data.
